Yumai No. 5

The variety was selected by Chengdu Institute of Biology of Chinese Academy of Sciences for four years and seven generations. It was stably formed into a line in 1990 and introduced into Chongqing City Crop Institute for purification and breeding in 1991. In 1997 and 1998, the average yield per mu was 290.19 kg, 5.89% higher than that of Mianyang 26. In 1999, the average yield per mu was 256.9 kg, 6.8% higher than that of Mianyang 26. In 1999, it was approved by Chongqing City.

The variety has stable characters, early spring maturity, whole growth period of about 180 days, upright seedlings, light green leaves, neat plants, plant height of 87.9 cm, rectangular ears, long awn white shell, large grains per ear, 43-48 grains per ear, 1000-grain weight 43 g, white spindle shape, good color change and yellow, easy threshing, high resistance to stripe rust, moderate resistance to powdery mildew, high susceptibility to red enzyme disease, crude protein 16.3%, wet gluten 34.8%, better than control Mianyang 26.

Main cultivation techniques: 1. The best sowing date is November 5- 15. 2, adopt small nest sparse plant density planting, mu basic seedlings 11--120,000 or so, mu ear 14--150,000. 3. Fertilization is heavy at the bottom and early, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, urea 12 kg per mu, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are applied together, and topdressing is applied in the three-leaf period. 4. Weed with chemical herbicide once in the period of two leaves and one heart after emergence. 5. Pay attention to the prevention and control of aphids in the later stage.
