A caesarean section is an operation to cut open the abdominal wall and uterine wall and remove the fetus from the incision when dystocia occurs. This technique can be performed by goats and sheep if necessary. If the ewe is in good condition and the operation is timely, it is possible to save the ewe and the fetus at the same time.

I. indications

1. Uncorrectable uterine torsion.

two。 The cervical canal is narrow or atresia.

3. There is a tumor in the birth canal that hinders the amputation of the fetus or the pelvis is deformed due to fracture.

4. It can also be used for pelvic stricture (unable to reach into the hand) and abnormal fetal position.

5. Too much fetal water, endangering the life of ewes, and the use of induced abortion is ineffective.

Second, taboo

1. When there is peritonitis, hysteritis and spoiled fetus in the uterus.

two。 When the ewe is exhausted because of prolonged dystocia.

III. Preoperative preparation

1. Surgical preparation: cut and shave the hair in the surgical area of the right thigh (from the hip tubercle to the rib arch), then rinse and dry with warm soap water.

two。 Baoding disinfection: make the sheep lie on the left side of Baoding, disinfect the skin with iodine, and then cover the surgical towel to prepare for the operation.

3. Anesthesia: combined anesthesia or electroacupuncture anesthesia can be used.

Combined anesthesia is general anesthesia with oral alcohol and local anesthesia at the same time. Oral alcohol should be diluted to 40%, 35 ml for every 10 kg of body weight (liquor can also be used, the same dosage). Local anesthesia is infiltrated with 0.5% procaine along the incision, and the dosage depends on the need.

Electroacupuncture anesthesia: selecting acupoints Baihui and Liumai. Baihui connects to the anode and six-pulse to the cathode. The induction time was 20-40 minutes. The needle sensation is characterized by lumbar gluteal muscle tremor and intercostal muscle contraction.
