Shaping and pruning technique of Lycium barbarum
To be fruitful, wolfberry must first be cultivated into a good tree shape. Lycium barbarum has strong branches and luxuriant growth. It has the characteristics of flowering and fruiting twice a year. If it is not properly managed, shaped and pruned, it will not only affect the yield of that year, but also make the tree senescence ahead of time. Therefore, reasonable shaping and pruning is an important measure for high and stable yield of Lycium barbarum.
1, plastic
Lycium barbarum tree shape should be cut into umbrella-shaped round, 3-layer fruiting branch group with big top and small bottom. In the first year, 3~5 branches with uniform distribution were selected as the main branches of the fifth crown of Lycium barbarum L.
In the second year after planting, one upright branch from the upper part of the trunk is selected as the extended trunk, the top is cut at 120cm from the ground, and 3~5 branches from the top are selected as the second branch crown.
In the third year after planting, one of the erect long branches from the top of the center of the second layer crown was selected as the trunk, and the top was cut at 160cm from the ground. The top of the parent branch was selected as the main branch of the third layer crown.
2, pruning
Goji berries are usually pruned twice. Spring pruning is carried out before germination. First, the branches sprouting at the base of the main branch are removed, and then the dead branches, cross branches, excessive long branches, old and weak branches, lateral branches, pest branches and needle branches of the branch group are cut off, and then the healthy fruiting branch group is selected and shortened. In summer, the middle part of Hebei Province is generally cut in the middle and late July, cutting off the overdense branches, weak branches and excessive branches on the trunk or main lateral branches, and gradually renewing the fruiting branch group, especially in the vacant or bare parts of the crown, using the excessive branches to culture into new fruiting branch groups.
Lycium barbarum usually enters its peak fruiting period in 3~ 5 years, the tree vigor gradually weakens after 30 years, the tree vigor senescence begins after 40~50 years, and the pruning is improper, and the senescence begins about 20 years. Therefore, reasonable pruning is an important measure for stable and high yield of Lycium barbarum every year.

Pruning technique of Chinese wolfberry
1. Pruning at an early age. Before the seedling sprouting, cut off the sprouts below 40 cm (branch band) on the trunk basal stem and cut the top at the plant height of 60 cm ~ 70 cm. two。 In summer pruning from late April to late July, the sprouting strips within the hairy stem branch band were cut off at an interval of 15 days, and the lateral branches left on the branch belt were cut short at 20 cm ~ 25 cm to promote their secondary fruiting branches. the strong branches growing upward from the lateral branches were selected to keep 2 ~ 3 branches in different directions of the hairy branches, at 30 cm.

Shaping and pruning techniques of young trees of Lycium barbarum
Lycium barbarum trees are generally young for 4-5 years after planting. At this time, the tree has exuberant growth and strong branching ability. if the branches are heart-picked, they can germinate three or four times a year. The shaping and pruning of young trees is mainly shaping, leaving strong branches to cultivate the crown skeleton, gradually expanding the crown, cultivating branch groups, and increasing fruiting branches. In the selection and cultivation of tree shape, it should be adopted flexibly according to the cultivation conditions and based on the principle of favorable high yield so as to lay the foundation for high yield in the future. Although there are many kinds of Chinese wolfberry trees, the principles of shaping and pruning are basically the same, except that each tree shape
