Softwood cuttings of Ligustrum lucidum
Ligustrum aurantifolium is a small shrub belonging to Ligustrum genus of Oleaceae. Its primary leaves are golden yellow, its old leaves are green and shiny. It has strong adaptability and extensive management. It is a common tree species for landscaping at present. This paper briefly introduces the technique of softwood cuttage propagation of Ligustrum aurantifolium.
1. Land selection and preparation Select loose fertile, flat and well-drained plots, apply 125 kg of calcium phosphate per mu, plow 15 cm deep and then rake flat, make high ridges 1.2 meters wide and 20 cm deep.
Second, cutting selection first to choose the mother tree, generally speaking, the older the age, the more difficult it is to take root. Therefore, cuttings should be collected from young mother branches, and it is best to use semi-lignified branches of the current year to improve survival rate. After cuttings are collected, they should be placed in a cool and humid place or wrapped with moist materials to avoid water loss, and cut them into cuttings, so as to cut them with the picking, cutting and cutting. The cutting length should be 5 to 20 cm, leaving 2 to 3 leaves, the upper end of the cutting should be cut flat at 2 cm above the bud, and the lower end of the cutting should be cut into oblique cuts. Cuttage methods include single bud cuttage, double bud cuttage and multiple bud cuttage. Single bud cutting: cutting into a bud node, leaves on the bud, leaves removed from the next bud; double bud cutting: cutting into two bud nodes, leaves on the upper bud, leaves removed from the next bud; multiple bud cutting: cutting into three bud nodes, leaves on the upper bud, leaves removed from the next bud.
Third, cuttage method softwood cuttage should be carried out when the growth of new shoots is slow, that is, from June to September, preferably in the rainy season. Because the air humidity is high in rainy season, it is conducive to rooting. Single buds should generally be inserted into the branch length of half, double buds, multiple buds inserted to the upper leaves. Do not insert too deep, density between cuttings do not squeeze each other, looking down to see the base of cuttings is appropriate.
Fourth, strengthen the management of softwood cuttings requires higher air humidity and suitable substrate moisture content, appropriate shade is very necessary. Sunlight too strong will make the cutting bed temperature increased, humidity decreased, not conducive to cutting survival, available reed curtain, bamboo curtain, shade net shade, general shade intensity of about 70%. The temperature of seedbed substrate should be controlled in the range of 22℃ to 28℃. Under this temperature condition, cuttings are most likely to root.

Cutting Propagation techniques of Ligustrum lucidum
First, the preparation of inserting bed. First dig the plug-in bed and compact the surrounding area. The bed is layered into the matrix, the bottom layer is covered with 10cm slag to facilitate drainage, the middle layer is covered with 10cm rotten soil, the upper layer is covered with 5cm coarse sand, and the whole bed soil is ready for use. Finally, the arch shed was built with bamboo and plastic. Second, cuttings treatment. Select the annual branches cut from the greening district and road green belt, cut the cuttings of about 15 cm, and leave 1-2 leaves at the top of the cuttings. due to the dense axillary buds of privet, the survival rate is higher, so there is no liquid treatment before insertion. Third, cuttage.

Common pests of Ligustrum lucidum and their control
Ligustrum lucidum is a semi-evergreen shrub of the genus Ligustrum lucidum of Oleaceae. Because of its golden shoot, pruning resistance and drought resistance, it is often used to decorate flower beds and green belts with safflower wood, rhododendron, cypress and so on. Often due to the use of high-density planting, insect pests occur more seriously, resulting in slow growth or no new branches, weak growth or even death. The common and seriously harmful pests of Ligustrum lucidum are: pink scale, Ligustrum lucidum, Ostrinia furnacalis. 1 the adults and nymphs of the pink scale lie on the branches and leaves of Ligustrum lucidum, and suck the plant juice with piercing mouthparts.
