Leaves papery, dimorphic, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate or rectangular-oblanceolate, 2.5 cm long and 8mi 18 mm wide, apex acute, with a convex tip, base cuneate, initially with scattered yellow sparse hairs, later nearly glabrous above; petiole 4 mm long, same as on branches

The main features are:

Evergreen shrubs, to 2 m tall, sparsely branched, young branches densely pale brown flattened tomentose.

Leaves papery, dimorphic, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate or rectangular-oblanceolate, 2.5 mm long and 8 mm wide, apex acute, with a convex tip, base cuneate, initially with scattered yellow sparse hairs, later subglabrous above; petiole 4 mm long, with the same hairs as on branches.

Flowers 1 Mel 3 terminal branches apical; pedicel 6 Mel 12 mm, densely slightly spreading reddish brown flat hairs, calyx large, 5-parted, lobes ca. 8 mm, margin serrulate and long eyelashes, outside densely with the same hairs; Corolla broadly funnelform, caliber ca. 6 cm, lobes 5, broadly ovate, rose-purple, with dark purple spots; stamens 10, filaments proximally pilose, densely hispid in room, style glabrous. Capsule rectangular-orbicular-ovate, ca. 8 mm, with rough hairs and persistent calyx.

Traditional varieties include "Jade Butterfly", "Purple Butterfly", "Ryukyu Red", "Yuling" and so on.

Place of origin:

Cultivated in various places, it is said to be native to our country, but not wild.
