Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Silkworms generally go through 4 sleep and 5 years old from hatching to cocooning. The 1st and 3rd instar is called small silkworm, and the 4th and 5th instar is called big silkworm or strong silkworm. The young silkworm period is the period of enriching the physique and the foundation of the whole silkworm period. The young silkworms are well reared and the silkworm body is strong, which can enhance the resistance to adverse environment and pathogens in the big silkworm stage. It is conducive to a bumper cocoon harvest. Therefore, raising young silkworms is the key to a bumper cocoon harvest. (1) it is convenient to carry out scientific sericulture: the juvenile silkworm requires higher temperature and humidity, and there must be a special person to adjust the temperature and humidity day and night.

(1) it is convenient to carry out science: the juvenile silkworm requires higher temperature and humidity, and there must be someone to adjust and master the temperature and humidity day and night, but it is difficult for every household to meet the requirements.

(2) it is convenient to create a good feeding environment and do a good job of disinfection and disease prevention: after co-rearing of young silkworms, suitable houses can be selected and built as co-rearing rooms for young silkworms, so as to achieve heat preservation and moisturization, unified disinfection, and effective separate rearing of young silkworms and big silkworms, which is conducive to the healthy development and growth of young silkworms with weak disease resistance in a safe environment.

(3) save labor, materials and mulberry leaves: if 20 families raise 30 silkworm eggs, 20 people will be needed. As for the co-rearing of young silkworms, a breeder at the age of 1 and 2 can bear 4 and 5 species. It takes only 6 to 8 people for 30 kinds, saving about 60% of the labor. Heating fuel, disinfection drugs, paper, lights and other expenses, young silkworm co-rearing can save more than 50%. The implementation of co-cultivation and reasonable storage of mulberry, good preservation of mulberry leaves, less rearing, mulberry leaves can be greatly saved.

(4) the economic benefit is high: the concentrated supplement of silkworm eggs to promote green, the hatching rate of ant silkworms is high, and the ants are collected together. It has created important conditions for the implementation of scientific sericulture in the whole sericulture period. The co-reared young silkworms are lively and healthy with less loss, and the cocoon yield and income are 10%-20% or more higher than those without co-rearing.
