The collection of scorpion venom is based on this principle. There are three common methods to collect scorpion venom: tail-cutting method, artificial stimulation method and electric stimulation method. (1) tail-cutting method: clip both sides of the fifth segment of the scorpion's rear abdomen with tweezers in one hand, cut off the tail segment of the scorpion with scissors in the other, break it into normal saline, leach the toxic part, concentrate the toxic liquid, put it into the container, and then make dry poison powder.

I. Collection of scorpion venom

When enraged, venom will be excreted from the poison sac out of defensive or attacking instinct. The collection of scorpion venom is based on this principle. There are three common methods to collect scorpion venom: tail-cutting method, artificial stimulation method and electric stimulation method.

(1) tail-cutting method: clip both sides of the fifth section of the scorpion's rear abdomen with tweezers in one hand, cut off the tail section of the scorpion with scissors in the other, break it, soak it into normal saline, leach the toxic part, concentrate the toxic liquid, put it into the container, and then make dry poison powder and store it under-5 ℃. In this method, each scorpion can only collect poison once, but the scorpion after collection reduces the medicinal function and economic value, and does too much harm to the scorpion, so this method is not usually used.

(2) artificial stimulation method: generally, a chelate limb of the scorpion is clamped with tweezers and suspended in the container for a moment. The tail thorns of most scorpions will discharge venom, but there are also a small number of scorpions that do not discharge venom. Fine wood chopsticks that do not detoxify can gently hit the head, chest or front abdomen of the scorpion, arousing the tail thorn of the scorpion to detoxify.

(3) Electric stimulation method: the electric excitation method is the method of collecting scorpion venom with electronic pulse venom extraction equipment. This method has the advantages of large amount of drug collection, high work efficiency, one-person operation, and repeated drug collection throughout the year without harming scorpions. It is a more advanced and scientific drug collection method in our country at present.

1. Equipment: an electronic poison extraction instrument, a wooden drug collection workbench (can be replaced by two drawers of desks). The worktable is covered with a glass plate with a thickness of 5 mm, which is similar to the area of the worktable, and the poison extraction equipment is placed on the glass plate. A 60ml beaker, a hair dryer, a spray can, a pair of latex gloves, a little talcum powder, a stainless steel needle, a 20-mesh sieve (the inner wall of the sieve should be affixed with a wide transparent tape to make it smooth to prevent the scorpion from escaping), the specification is: 15cm high, 60cm long and 50cm wide.

2. The method of collecting poison: wash and disinfect the beaker, drain the water, weigh it and put it on the glass plate of the worktable, and put a sterilized stainless steel needle in the beaker. The length of the steel needle should be slightly higher than the mouth of the cup. Put the scorpion ready to collect poison in a sieve for 2 hours, let the scorpion try the sediment and attachments on each other, then blow off the dust on the scorpion with a hair dryer, and then spray a small amount of saline on the surface of the scorpion with a spray can to collect poison. When collecting drugs, the staff should wear clean white overalls and work caps, and put on latex gloves after rubbing a little talc on their hands. Then turn on the power of the electronic pulse instrument. Insert the two animal tweezers plugs connected to the connection and place the pedal switch on the ground near the right foot. Pick up two tweezers in both hands, one clamps on both sides of the fifth section of the rear abdomen of the scorpion, and the other clamps on the first section of the tail of the scorpion, so that the venom of the scorpion is downward, the sting is toward the beaker, and the pedal switch is electrified for 1-2 seconds. The scorpion will automatically discharge the venom, and immediately lift the foot and cut off the power supply. If the venom is suspended at the tip of the sting, try it on the steel needle in the beaker immediately. Try to remove the venom hanging from the stinger.
