The torch ginger flower is a perennial herbaceous flower of the genus Zingiberaceae. The flower head is extracted from the underground stem, with rose-shaped petals, leathery petals, smooth surface, as bright as porcelain, with 50 petals ranging from 50 to 100 petals, neatly arranged; the flower diameter is about 15 cm, and the strong plant is more than 20 cm in diameter; the pedicel is 1 cm high and blossoms in winter and spring, coinciding with New Year's Day and Spring Festival. The common colors are crimson, bright red, pink and so on.

Torch ginger flowers are distributed in the tropics, like high temperature and humid climate, need sufficient sunshine or slightly shady growth environment, and are suitable for growing in slightly acidic and humus-rich sandy soil. The suitable temperature for growth is 20-30 ℃. When the temperature is lower than 5 ℃, there is slight freezing injury, and some stems and leaves will be frostbitten and withered. Generally speaking, the formed plants have strong cold resistance.

Planting torch ginger flower should choose the environment with sufficient water content and sufficient sunshine, the soil is slightly acidic, the fertility is above medium, sandy loam is better, do not choose dry or windy places, otherwise it is disadvantageous to plant growth. Extra-root fertilization can be carried out once every 10-15 days or farm manure can be buried once in half a year. Watering depends on the growth status of the plant leaves, and can be irrigated when the leaves wilt slightly. Due to the well-developed root system of the plant, the watering times can be reduced appropriately after stable growth. Usually pay attention to thinning withered and yellow leaves and old stems to facilitate ventilation and flower picking.

The propagation of torch ginger flower can be carried out after the flowering period every spring. There were 3-5 plants in each clump, and 2-4 leaves in the lower part of each stem were retained (cut off above). The ramet should be once a year to facilitate plant formation and underground stem accumulation of nutrients for flowering.
