1. Seed treatment. Choose sunny weather before sowing, dry the seeds evenly on the floor, and often turn them for 1-2 days. Soak the sun-dried seeds in cold water for 10-16 hours to fully absorb water, which is conducive to germination. Seed dressing with 20% trimethoprim, 0.4% of the important amount of seeds, can prevent smut and leaf blight.
2. Sowing seeds. Barley should be sown before the end of May at the latest. If it is too late, the fruit will not mature after autumn, which will affect the yield. Use a plough to open a ditch 10 cm deep, then cover the soil and suppress it to keep the soil moist. After sowing, there can be continuous flood irrigation without rain, and seedlings can emerge in about 15 days, with a sowing amount of 5-6 kg per mu. If the condition of water and fertilizer is good, the sowing amount per mu can be increased, which is beneficial to high yield.
3. Field management. During the growing period of Coix barley, we should pay attention to the four links of ploughing, weeding, topdressing and irrigation. Ploughing after rain, keep the field free of weeds; fertilize when the seedling is 30 cm high, the fertilization standard is the same as corn, but barley like nitrogen fertilizer, should apply ammonium bicarbonate 75-100 kg per mu. Coix barley is tolerant to fertilizer and water and requires a large amount of water, especially in the heading, flowering and filling stage, otherwise the yield will be seriously affected.
4. Harvest. The branches and leaves of Coix barley turn yellow and withered, and the beads are harvested when they turn black and gray, and the general harvest time is in the middle and last ten days of October. The stalks were harvested, sorted into bundles, and stacked for 1-2 days, then beat hard, and the barley beads fell off by themselves, and finally became high-quality barley beads after drying, screening and removing impurities.
