In the middle and last ten days of August 2002, Chinese wolfberry gall mite disease occurred in the Chinese wolfberry producing area along the boundary between giant deer and Longyao, which brought great losses to the majority of Chinese wolfberry growers.

Harmful symptoms: the leaves are the most obvious, the damaged parts are densely yellow-green and nearly round bulging spots, the leaves are twisted, similar to virus disease, the plant growth is seriously hindered, the leaves and tender stems are not edible, the fruit is deformed, and the yield and quality are reduced.

Cut the small bulge on the leaf with a blade, remove the adult mite from the inside, and look at it under the microscope. The adult mite is long conical and orange. By consulting the data, the mite overwinters mainly in the axillary buds of other plants near the planting ground of Lycium barbarum. In the middle of April of the following year, when the winter buds of Lycium barbarum began to show green, the overwintering mites began to sting. From late May to early June, a large number of adult stinging mites transferred to the new leaves of Chinese wolfberry to lay eggs, and the hatched young mites drilled into the leaf tissue to form galls, and the damage reached the peak from mid-August to mid-late September. In the middle of November, the temperature dropped into mites and turned to overwintering. In addition, it was also found that aphids and wood lice had different numbers of adult mites on their bellies and feet.

Prevention and control methods: adult mites overwintering before and after overwintering is the key period of control. When a large number of adult mites appear, spray poison in time to reduce the density of harmful mites, which can be sprayed with 50% acaridan gel suspension or 1000 times, or 1.8% Abistin 3000-4000 times. In addition, according to the experience of local old farmers: to master the local gall adult mite exposure period or sting adult mite activity period, the ultra-low volume spraying method was used to spray 50% dichloropropyl oil spray mixed with diesel oil at 1:1, and the effect was better with 200g per mu.
