The technique of pruning medlar

Trunk pruning: At the germination stage of seedlings, the buds below 40 cm (branch belt) on the trunk base stem will be cut off, and the top will be cut at the height of 60 cm ~70 cm. 2. Summer pruning: from late April to late July, the sprouts within the hairy trunk branch belt are cut off at an interval of 15 days, and the lateral branches left on the branch belt are cut short at 20 cm to 25 cm to promote the germination of secondary fruit branches; the strong branches growing upward are selected and 2 to 3 branches depending on different directions of hairy branches are reserved at 30 cm.

I. Juvenile pruning

1. Trunk pruning: seedling germination stage, the trunk base stem 40 cm (branch belt) below the bud cut off, in the plant height of 60 cm ~70 cm at the top.

2. Summer pruning: from late April to late July, the sprouts within the hair stem branching belt are cut off at an interval of 15 days, and the lateral branches left on the branching belt are cut short at the position of 20 cm to 25 cm to promote the germination of secondary fruiting branches; the strong branches growing upward are selected to retain 2 to 3 branches depending on different directions of hair branches, and the fruiting branches are spliced at the position of 30 cm to promote the germination of fruiting branches.

3. Autumn pruning: September to October, cut off the plant roots, trunk, crown by the long branches. The fruiting branch group was cultivated gradually in the next two years, and basically formed in the fourth year.

II. Pruning at maturity

1. Dormancy pruning (1) shear: cut off plants, rhizomes, trunk, bore, crown on the top of the useless long branches and canopy disease, insects, residual branches and fruit branches group too dense thin weak branches, old fruit branches. (2) Truncation: Truncation of middle and upper cross branches and strong fruiting branches of crown.

2. Summer pruning: after the first fruit, prune the trunk, rhizome, bore, top of the crown and the over-dense branch group inside the crown. Leave 10 cm ~20 cm short for fruiting mother branches, promote branching and autumn fruit.
