Tea seed storage
Technical measures for preserving tea seeds from deterioration and affecting germination rate.
Tea seeds are large seeds with high water content. Under the general temperature, humidity and air conditions, the moisture content of tea seeds has a great impact on the vitality of tea seeds. When the moisture content is lower than 20% and higher than 50%, the germination rate of tea seeds decreases significantly, and the germination rate is the highest when the moisture content is about 30%. Therefore, the moisture content of tea seeds should be maintained at about 30% during storage.
The suitable storage conditions for tea seeds are temperature of 5~7℃, relative humidity of 60~65%, and air circulation.
Tea seeds can be stored in the following ways: after tea seeds are harvested, those that are about to be sown or transported in a short period of time can be spread in a cool and dry room, the thickness should not exceed 15cm, and they should be mixed once every 7 to 8 days. Cover a little straw to make the upper and lower layers of seeds lose water evenly. If it takes a long time to sow, the stratification method should be used for storage. The method is to choose a cool and dry house without direct sunlight, spread a thin layer of hay on the ground, spread a layer of dry sand on it, 3~5cm thick, spread a layer of tea seeds 10~ 15cm thick on the sand, and spread sand 3~5cm above it. Sand and tea seeds are stacked four or five layers in this way, and the top layer of tea seeds is covered with straw. When there are many tea seeds and no suitable houses can be used, you can choose a slope with high dry soil and good drainage outdoors to build a cellar for storage. Cellar for strip shape, width 1, depth 50cm, length with the number of tea seeds, excavation along the slope, so as to avoid ponding.
In order to adjust the temperature of air in the cellar, a ventilation tube is inclined every 1.0~1.2m in the cellar. Cellar storage tea seeds, into the cellar when the water content of about 25% is appropriate. Each rice cellar length can store about 75kg tea seeds.
