Plant name: scallions

Family: Liliaceae

Varieties (suitable for potted plants):

Broad-leaf onion color:

Lavender, purplish red

General attribute

-region of origin: central Asia

-corm type / vegetative storage tissue: bulb

-breed habits

* height: 20cm

* flowering: spherical, dozens of flowers

* Flower: star

* Leaf color and shape: blue-gray; oval

-requirements for breaking dormancy: low temperature, below 9 °C

-overwintering ability: strong

-Storage: 20 °C, good ventilation and good air circulation

-supply phase: September to November

-the size of the bulb (cm) and the number of flowers produced: 1 flower / bulb / bulb; 10 / 12 flower / corm.

Cultivation characteristics

-start time of cold treatment: October 15-November 15

-Cold storage / rooting chamber or natural cold treatment cycle: 20-21 weeks "wet cold" treatment (after planting)

-Cold treatment temperature: the root system developed to a low temperature of 9 °C, and then, according to the growth of the bulb, the temperature dropped to 5 to 1 °C (the same as the cold treatment of tulips).

-the number of weeks of the cold cycle + the earliest date of admission: see table below

-planting period: October 15-November 15

-Matrix: a matrix or standard matrix soil with good drainage and strong water retention, with a PH value of about 6-7.

-number of bulbs per pot: see table below

-planting depth: the bulb is covered with 1-2 cm of soil

-watering: after planting in the normal wet matrix soil, watering the right amount, and then watering until the bulb begins to sprout.

-Natural cold treatment: in areas where the temperature is very low in winter, a controlled temperature cold storage is needed.

The method of natural cold treatment: bury the flowerpot in the soil and cover the bud with about 5 cm of soil.

Frost prevention: natural cold treatment of flowerpots buried in the soil must be in good contact with the soil and cover the surface with a layer of straw (at least 10 cm thick). Plastic or blister film should also be covered during frost, and then covered with extra straw. Remove plastic film and extra straw after the frost period.

-greenhouse phase: starts after the end of the cooling cycle

Cultivation requirements

-fertilization: no need

-greenhouse temperature: 15-17 °C, relative humidity 60-80%

-required light: not more than 350 joules / cm ²/ day, avoid light if it exceeds

-in the greenhouse: 4 weeks

-watering quantity: normal

Listing stage

-Storage temperature at the grower: 0-2 °C

-temperature during transportation: 2-5 °C; or as low as possible

-temperature from wholesalers and retailers: 2-5 °C; ditto

-suitable location for consumers: living room, walkway, balcony, garden

-use: annual potted plants

-temperature in the consumer's home: room temperature, bright spot

-Consumer water supply: normal

-fresh-keeping degree: excellent; when the flower is in full bloom, the leaf tip will wither and die
