Ophiocephalus Argus is commonly known as catfish, because of its high meat content, delicious meat and rich nutrition, the market is in short supply, and the supply of seedlings has become the main factor affecting the breeding of Ophiocephalus Argus.

1. Parent fish selection

Parent fish can be purchased from the market or from the natural capture of parent fish to select strong, disease-free and injury-free 2-3 winter individuals, requiring 100 grams for females and more than 150 grams for males.

two。 Parent fish cultivation

The pond for reproduction requires a flat bottom with an area of 1 mu (1 mu = 667 square meters, the same below) and a water depth of 1.2 to 1.5 meters. Remove too much mud, disinfect it with quicklime and then inject filtered water. 500 kg of fermented manure is applied per mu. The collected parent fish were soaked in 3% salt water for 10 minutes for 15 minutes, and 1000-1500 fish per mu of water were stocked. When the water temperature reaches more than 14 ℃, bait is started, mainly feeding small fish, shrimp and minced mussel meat. Flush every 2 to 3 days since April to promote gonadal development.

3. Promote birth and incubation

When the water temperature is more than 20 ℃, a "Sanhe tile" is set up as an artificial nest for 2 to 3 females. Generally, after 12 hours, the females and males are paired to spawn and fertilize, and the males can be seen to protect their eggs by examining the tiles. When the water temperature is 18-25 ℃, it can hatch and remove the membrane into fish fry in about 15-25 days. After the fry hatch, the nests can be cleared and the parent fish can be removed by means of net pulling, copying and ground cage fishing.

4. Seedling cultivation

Put an appropriate amount of aquatic plants in the pond to provide habitat for larvae. Fish larvae can be fed with compost such as chicken manure to cultivate small zooplankton and replenish egg yolk; with the growth of fish fry, soybean milk and surimi can be added. In the process of cultivation, it is necessary to keep the water quality fresh and sufficient dissolved oxygen, and sprinkle quicklime and bleach regularly. After one month of feeding, when the fry grew to 2cm, the minced fish surimi, crushed snail, clam meat and bean cake paste were fed instead, and the daily feeding accounted for 1%-3% of the body weight of pond fish.

6. Fish species fishing

Ophiocephalus Argus species have the habit of covering mud and grass, so it is difficult to catch. The following methods can be adopted: ① copying under water and grass; ② lowering water level, land cage fishing; ③ fishing with fish net; ④ dry pond fishing.
