Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Rotting skin disease of Robinia pseudoacacia is the main branch disease of Robinia pseudoacacia, and both young and adult trees can be killed. Most of the diseases occurred in the trunk cortex of Robinia pseudoacacia. After the damage to the trees, most of the disease spots of different sizes appear in the lower part of the trunk and branches, and the disease spots are fusiform, oval or irregular. The diseased part of the trunk of the young tree was ulcerated and slightly sunken; the cortex of the trunk of the tree was thick, and the waterlogged and sunken part of the disease was not obvious. The expansion rate of the disease is longitudinally greater than that of horizontal. When the disease department surrounded the trunk for a week, the tree withered and died. Lenticels and bark cracks in the later stage of the disease

In the later stage, white and orange conidia are often produced in the lenticels and bark cracks.

The pathogen is Fusarium oxysporum, which is habited in the soil, and can also overwinter in the diseased tissue. Factors such as barren soil, high groundwater level or drought, low temperature attack in winter or early spring, windward outlet and so on. It can cause the weakening of the tree potential, weaken the resistance of the tree, and cause the occurrence of diseases. The rainy season in summer is easy to cause the epidemic of diseases. Pathogens invade and spread through wounds and lenticels by means of wind and rain. The peak period of the disease was from June to August.

Prevention and control methods. Strengthen the tending and management of Robinia pseudoacacia forest, enhance the tree potential, improve disease resistance, prevent damage to tree trunks; small area young Robinia pseudoacacia forest, at the initial stage of the disease, the trunk is sprayed with Baume 55 degree lime-sulfur mixture or lR10 alkali water.
