Why is the feeding period of growing and finishing pigs as short as possible?

Last Updated: 2024/11/22, Under good feeding and management conditions, it usually takes 100 to 120 days for lean pigs to go from 20 kg to 100 kg. China's intensive and regular pig farms generally take about 110 days from 20 kg to 100 kg, and the age of pigs with 100 kg body weight from birth to 100 kg is 160 to 180 days. Such benefits have the following aspects. First, high daily gain and high feed reward. Lean pigs grow fast, and if nutritionally comprehensive full-price feed is provided, the productivity potential can be full.

Under good feeding and management conditions, it usually takes 100 to 120 days for lean pigs to go from 20 kg to 100 kg. The average age of intensive and regular pigs in China is about 110 days from 20kg to 100kg, and the age of 100kg pigs from birth to 100kg is 160 to 180 days. Such benefits have the following aspects. First, high daily gain and high feed reward. Lean pigs grow fast, and if the full price feed with comprehensive nutrition is supplied, the productivity potential can be brought into full play, especially before 50kg body weight, it is necessary to improve its nutritional level, feed freely, and the daily weight gain can reach 600 to 700g. The high pigs can reach 700 to 800g, and the Indian kilogram body weight will arrive later. In order to improve the lean meat rate and feed reward, the feed can be restricted appropriately, although the daily gain decreases slightly, but the economic benefit is high. According to the experiment, during the period of 20 kg to 50 kg live pigs, with the increase of digestible energy and feed intake, the daily gain increased and the feed conversion rate remained basically unchanged. Specifically, when the average daily feed intake was 1.0 kg, 1.40 kg, 1.70 kg, 2.0 kg and 2.36 kg, the daily gain was 420 g, 560 g, 680 g, 780 g and 900 g, respectively. When the daily feed intake of 2.4, 2.5, 2.5 and 2650 to 0 kg live weight pigs were 1.63kg, 1.95kg, 2.30kg and 2.88kg, the daily gain were 418g, 516g, 793g and 834g, respectively, and the ratio of feed to meat was 3.92, 3.392.9and 3.46Pt, respectively. It can be seen that when the daily feed intake is 2.3 kg, the daily gain and feed reward are high. Shorten the hurdle period, choose suitable hurdle live weight, and high feed utilization rate. For example, the live weight from 20kg to hurdle is 90kg, 110kg and 130kg respectively, and the ratio of feed to meat is 3.3, 3.7 and 4.1 respectively. Second, reduce maintenance. Because of the short feeding period and high nutrition level, the proportion of nutrients used for maintenance decreased and the part used for production increased. Maintenance is the amount of feed needed when the pig body weight does not increase or decrease, and it is the feed consumption of no product. The longer the feeding time, the more maintenance. According to the study, the average amount of feed used for maintenance from the first 20 kg to 90 kg is about 80 kg per day; if the feeding period is 100 days, the feed consumption is about 80 kg; if the feeding period is 150 days, then about 120 kg. Third, the input-output ratio is high, the capital turnover is fast, and the economic benefit is high. Pig production is a commodity production, which finally reflects the highest economic benefits in the fixed period. If the feeding period of 20 kg Sheng 90 kg is 100 days, 3.5 batches can be raised annually; if the feeding period is 150 days, the annual production is 2.4 batches.
