Treatment of pigeon cholera
Li Yue, Lailong Town, Suqian City, reflected on the phone that his family raised 500 egg pigeons. Recently, 50% of them had vomiting and diarrhea symptoms, and their feces were yellow, white or green. The sick pigeons could not stand and had mucus in their mouths. The local veterinarian diagnosed pigeon cholera. He asked how to prevent and cure pigeon cholera.
Pigeon cholera is an acute septic infectious disease caused by Pasteurella multocida, also known as pigeon pasteurellosis or pigeon hemorrhagic septicemia. The most acute cases of pigeon cholera died suddenly without any clinical symptoms. The acute cases showed depression, dyspnea, elevated body temperature, loss of appetite, loose and dull feathers, foamy mucus in the nose and mouth, diarrhea, copper-green or yellowish brown faeces, and feathers around the cloacal cavity were glued together by faeces; the sick pigeons lost weight quickly and could not stand up and died soon. The main manifestations of chronic cases and a few acute tolerant pigeons were claudication, joint enlargement and chronic respiratory inflammation. The main pathological changes were mucus in nasal cavity, cellulosic caseous exudate in air bag and thoracic cavity, cardiac hemorrhage, needle-like bleeding spot and gray necrotic focus in liver, and intestinal bleeding.
To treat pigeon cholera, we should first isolate sick pigeons and disinfect pigeon houses and the surrounding environment. Then choose the following 1-2 kinds of drugs to treat sick pigeons, the course of treatment is 3-7 days. ⑴ penicillin sodium salt, 50-80 000 units per sick pigeon, 3-4 times a day; ⑵ streptomycin, 20-50 000 units per sick pigeon, 2-3 times a day; ⑶ 20% sulfadiazine sodium injection, 1-2 ml intramuscular injection per sick pigeon, twice a day; ⑷ kanamycin injection, 20-30 000 units per sick pigeon, 2 times a day ⑸ quick-acting bird rescue tablets, each sick pigeon with 0.05g oral, twice a day.

Pig dysentery and diarrhea are more common, especially in large-scale pig farms. In some pig farms, diarrhea and dysentery are more serious, especially in piglets, diarrhea and diarrhea have become the key factors restricting the growth rate of piglets. It is of great significance to improve the ability of clinical differentiation of swine dysentery and diarrhea and to take timely control measures for grass-roots animal disease controllers and large-scale farm owners. Diarrhea and diarrhea are clinical symptoms, usually referred to as diarrhea.
