There are five characteristics of combination of rice and oil.

Rapeseed is an important oil crop in the Yangtze River Basin. The traditional cultivation of rape is seedling transplanting. Because transplanting rape seedlings in paddy field needs a lot of manpower and material resources, the yield is low, the benefit is not high, and the harvest is easy to lose in case of unfavorable weather, which affects the enthusiasm of farmers to plant rape. The traditional seedling transplanting was changed to no-tillage direct seeding and straw mulching planting rape, which simplified the production process and achieved the purpose of saving cost and increasing efficiency. Compared with traditional seedling transplantation, rice-oil combination type has the following characteristics:

First of all, no-tillage sowing direct seeding rape, 5 workers per mu covered with straw, the yield per mu can reach 90~170 kg, then the income can reach 35 yuan per worker, 4~5 times that of transplanted rape.

Secondly, it alleviates the seasonal contradiction, shortens the growth period of direct seeding rape, and correspondingly advances the maturity period, which is beneficial to the connection of next crop rotation.

Third, it is beneficial to ensure the planting density of rape and promote the balanced production of large areas. With straw mulching cultivation, it can also loosen soil, improve soil structure, reduce damage to soil aggregate structure, improve soil organic matter content, stimulate soil microorganism to multiply in large quantities, and improve soil fertility.

The fourth is conducive to rape emergence. When rice is harvested, the soil moisture content is high, and the seedlings emerge quickly after sowing. No-tillage direct seeding rape is generally sown in the middle and late October, which is later than transplanting rape, avoiding the high incidence period of autumn drought, high seed germination rate and uniform emergence. Especially due to late sowing, no aphid harm, virus is lighter; especially no-tillage direct seeding, overcome the transplanted root injury, taproot deep into the soil, eliminate the phenomenon of crooked roots, hanging roots and bent neck, developed root system, short and strong plants, good lodging resistance. At the same time, the soil temperature of rape field 5~10 cm deep was 0.2~2.0℃ higher than that of ploughing field, and the frost resistance was enhanced.

Fifthly, the operation is simple, the procedures of seedling raising, ploughing, transplanting, intertillage and the like are reduced, the cultivation technology is simplified, the labor force is reduced, the labor production intensity is reduced, the winter agriculture development is facilitated, the rape production is stably developed, and the rice field high-efficiency conservation tillage planting mode is adopted.
