Turtles have strong vitality and disease resistance, and fewer diseases, but under artificial feeding conditions, due to the influence of many factors, such as breeding site, temperature, bait and so on, various diseases sometimes occur. Therefore, we should pay attention to observation at ordinary times, and once an anomaly is found, we should prescribe the right remedy to the case in time so as not to cause economic losses. In this paper, the prevention and control methods of common turtle diseases summarized by Jiang Zhanglin in Longtouge Animal Farm, Yuanhua Town, Haining City, Zhejiang Province after 10 years are introduced as follows:

First, traumatic inflammation scrapes the skin due to rough feeding ponds, or dermatitis occurs due to bacterial infection caused by scratching each other during transportation. Hydrogen peroxide can be used to disinfect the wound, apply red potion or purple potion, or apply anti-inflammatory ointment. Then dry out of the water for a few days to heal. If inflammation is not found in time, tetracycline and spiramycin can be used as feed for treatment, each time: 500 grams of tortoise is one dose of adults; once a day for 3 days.

Second, gastroenteritis in summer feeding unclean or rotten feed is easy to cause gastroenteritis, sick turtles vomiting, dilute stool, turtles in the pool show loss of appetite, a significant decline in food intake, if not timely treatment, can cause sick turtles dehydration and death. Treatment can be injected with chloramphenicol or gentamicin, 0.2 grams per 500 grams of turtles, once a day, and disinfect the pool water to do a good job of isolation of diseased turtles.

Third, indigestion if long-term feeding excessive feed or a large amount of indigestible feed, often cause indigestion or even cause refusing to eat. Therefore, the feed should be diversified, not single. If you find indigestion, you should first change to fresh, fragrant and soft feed to guide appetite, and infuse diseased turtles with multi-enzyme tablets, one tablet for every 500 grams of turtles, or other drugs that help digestion (such as yeast tablets, etc.). In particular, attention should be paid not to overfeeding silkworm chrysalis, fat meat and other high-fat foods, otherwise a long time will lead to poor fat metabolism, which will increase the difficulty of treatment.

Fourth, the climate of cold is changeable in early spring or early winter. if the feeding and management is not proper, cold turtles will catch a cold, especially when the temperature suddenly drops in the greenhouse due to poor ventilation. The symptoms are obstruction of nostrils, occasional mucus or scab, tears and even voice in the mouth of turtles. After the onset of the disease, virus spirit can be added to the feed, every 500 grams of turtles fed half a day; if laryngitis, watermelon frost powder can be sprayed into the turtle mouth, twice a day, generally used for 3 to 4 days can be cured.

Water mildew is a disease caused by fungi in water, mainly caused by lack of sunlight or poor water quality in winter, and sometimes occurs in autumn and spring. In general, when this disease occurs, you can see white filamentous slime floating in the water around the tortoise neck and limbs and even on the carapace, also known as water skin mildew. Water mildew has little effect on big turtles, but it may cause death to young turtles. The sick turtles can be washed in salt water for 15 minutes.

Sixth, rotten plate and shell disease this disease is mainly caused by bacteria invading the shell of the tortoise. Its symptom is that the tortoise's back shell or bottom plate initially appears white spots, slowly form a red block, press it hard, and there is blood squeezing out. During treatment, the epidermis of the affected area can be broken, squeezed out blood, daubed with salt and washed immediately after wiping, once a day for 5 days. You can also use Zijin ingots (available in drugstores) and add vinegar to mix well to the paste, apply to the affected area, and can be cured several times.
