Last Updated: 2024/09/16, It is reported that the good method of layered co-breeding of pigs and chickens was first popularized and used in rural areas of Shanxi Province in 1998. Seven years later, this feeding method has been widely promoted in most rural areas of our country, and has achieved good economic and social benefits. According to the introduction of pig-chicken joint farmers, in the pig-chicken joint breeding house of about 32 square meters, using the method of high-bed cage (upper layer raising chickens, lower layer raising pigs), the upper layer can raise about 180 ~ 200 laying hens, and the lower layer can raise 6 ~ 8 fattening pigs (or piglets).

It is reported that the good method of layered co-breeding of pigs and chickens was first popularized and used in rural areas of Shanxi Province in 1998. Seven years later, this feeding method has been widely promoted in most rural areas of our country, and has achieved good economic and social benefits.

According to the introduction of pig and chicken joint farmers, in the pig and chicken joint breeding house of about 32 square meters, the method of high bed cages is adopted (the upper layer @ 230 chickens and the lower layers @ 227 eggs). The upper layer can raise about 180 ~ 200 laying hens, and the lower layer can raise 6 ~ 8 fattening pigs (or 10 ~ 15 piglets), and pigs can directly pick up fresh chicken droppings. According to expert estimates, this method can not only save 30% of pig feed, save 30% of the occupied area, and reduce construction costs by 50%, but also produce more than 2500 kilograms of commercial eggs every year. Two batches of commercial fat pigs 12 ~ 16 (or piglets 20 ~ 30) can make a profit of more than 5000 yuan.

According to breeding experts, chicken dung is a good feed for pigs. Chicken manure contains a certain number of metabolites, which has high reuse value. After determination, chicken manure contains 21.6% crude protein, 25% crude fat, 10.5% crude fiber, 4% calcium, 1.8% phosphorus, as well as lysine, cystine, methionine, etc., which are higher than corn and other cereal feed.

Breeding experts said: the layered co-cultivation of pigs and chickens in the same house has less land, less investment and quick results, which is an important channel for farmers to shake off poverty and become rich.
