The whole herb can be used as medicine, with the effect of clearing heat and detoxification, tonifying the kidney and astringent essence, and can treat heatstroke, acute mastitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis and other diseases. Thistle grass is widely distributed in the north and south of our country, often born in the sand grass or stone edge, so how to plant it? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

Thistle likes light, temperature and humid environment, and can withstand a certain drought. When planting, you can choose the general land with high dryness and good drainage. If you want to obtain high yield, you should choose fertile and loose soil. Too poor soil will affect the quantity and quality of its flowers. Because thistle is a perennial herb, base fertilizer must be applied before planting. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer. 2500 kilograms of mature farm manure and 50 kilograms of superphosphate are applied per mu, and ridges or beds are made after shaping and raking.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

Direct seeding or seedling transplanting can be used for control, and the seeds are collected when the fruit is ripe from July to August every year. Direct seeding is carried out in spring sowing in mid-late April, or autumn sowing in October-November, sowing in ditches with a row spacing of 20 cm on the whole ground, covering soil with 1-2 cm, with seeds of 0.75-1 kg per mu, slightly suppressed and poured after sowing, and seedlings can generally emerge after half a month. On the other hand, seedling transplanting is generally carried out on the seedling bed in March in spring, covering 1 cm of soil after sowing, keeping the seedling bed moist at all times, controlling the temperature at 15-20 degrees, emerging seedlings after about 10 days, strengthening seedling management, and transplanting when the seedlings grow to 6-10 cm. Transplanting as far as possible in the afternoon after cloudy and rainy days, when the survival rate is high, resulting in the control of plant spacing of 20 × 25 cm.

3. Field management

The plant of thistle grass is short, so weeds should be weeded frequently during the growth period, so as to avoid weeds affecting the plant growth and competing with the plant for water and fertilization. in addition, if the weed grows more than the plant, it is easy to breed diseases and insect pests and affect the normal photosynthesis of the plant. On the other hand, after weeding the soil or growing 2-3-year-old seedlings, the annual seedlings should be covered with wheat straw or wheat bran and sawdust after fertilizing and watering, which can strengthen the decomposition of vitamin organisms in the soil, maintain moisture, reduce weeds and create a good growth environment for thistle grass.

4. Fertilizer and water management

Bairui grass likes the dry environment, in addition to the early seed germination and seedling growth period of proper watering, to the late growth period does not need frequent watering, so as not to affect its growth, timely drainage after the rainy season, so as to avoid rotting roots. Fertilizer should be applied once a year in spring and winter, which can promote root growth and increase yield. Phosphate fertilizer is the main fertilizer, and 20-25 kg per mu is applied. In the peak growing season, potassium fertilizer solution can be sprayed to improve plant disease resistance and play a significant role in increasing yield.
