What are the breeding methods of licorice?
As we all know, it is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine with high medicinal value. At present, the market demand is more and more, the price is rising constantly, and the wild resources are in a state of exhaustion due to a large number of picking and the destruction of the growth environment. Therefore, artificial cultivation is imperative. At present, the planting area of licorice in China is also increasing year by year, so how to breed licorice during cultivation? Let's get to know it.
Seed propagation
1. Seed collection and treatment
In late autumn, the fully mature licorice pods are collected, dried and crushed, then the seeds are taken out, dried, removed and stored, waiting for sowing. However, the seed coat of licorice is keratinized and the absorption is weak, so if there is no treatment during sowing, the germination rate will decrease. The general treatment methods include chemical treatment and mechanical treatment. Pharmaceutical treatment means that the seeds are mixed with sulfuric acid, and the concentration of sulfuric acid should be suitable. The seeds are soaked in sulfuric acid solution, accumulated and heated, stirring every 15 minutes. When the color of the seed coat becomes dark brown, remove and rinse the seeds, dry and sow the seeds. The mechanical treatment is to break the seed coat by extremely crushing. Although this method is simple, the damage of the seed is high and the germination rate will decrease.
2. Sowing seeds
Licorice does not have high requirements for soil, general soil can be planted, but it is suitable for sandy loam soil, if it is a newly reclaimed land, it is necessary to fertilize the soil and rake fine leveling before planting. Can be a single species, can also be intercropped with wheat summer harvest plants, a single species generally open a shallow ditch on the ground for strip sowing, the seeds are evenly scattered into the ditch, covered with soil and watered, generally 2-3 kg per mu. Intercropping can be sown with wheat in spring or after summer wheat harvest.
Cuttage propagation
1. Cutting preparation
Licorice has strong asexual fecundity, which can improve cuttage for propagation. Before cutting, cuttings should be prepared first. Fresh licorice root strips should be selected on 1-2-year-old, robust and disease-free plants with a diameter of more than 0.5 cm. Cut it into cuttings of about 15 cm. In the plot of land preparation and fertilization, rake fine leveling after the border, ready for cutting.
2. Cuttage
When cutting, iron pieces almost between the cuttings and cuttings are drilled on the border surface according to the row spacing of 5 × 15 cm, and then the cuttings are inserted along the hole. After cutting, the soil is slightly suppressed, and immediately irrigated, and filled with soil around the cuttings after the water is dry. In order to improve the survival rate, the lower end of the cuttings can be soaked with rooting agents for about 5 minutes before cutting to facilitate the rooting of cuttings.
