How to reproduce cherries
Cherry is a very common fruit, which belongs to cherry, and it is also very popular in our country. Now the cherry planting range is relatively wide, and many people are constantly joining the cherry planting army. The more important point of planting cherry is how to reproduce, which is also a problem that many beginners pay more attention to. So the editor today brings you the breeding method of cherries, let's have a look!
1. Seed reproduction
After harvesting the cherries, remove the seeds from the fruit, wash the pulp attached to the seed coat, and dry the seeds in a cool place. Because the cherry seed coat is thin, the germination power is relatively strong, so there is no need to promote germination. After drying, sow the seeds directly in the soil, strengthen the management, germinate after sowing for about 2-4 weeks, and do a good job in seedling management after breaking the soil. When the seedlings grow to about 2 cm, they can be transplanted, but the germination rate of cherry seeds will be affected by the plant and reduce the vigor, sometimes the germination rate is lower, so it is not suitable for large-scale reproduction.
2. Cuttage propagation
Cutting propagation is mainly in spring and summer, select semi-mature branches on robust plants, the diameter is controlled at about 0.4 cm, too thick, then should not germinate, too fine lack of nutrition to reduce germination rate. After cutting, cut the branches into small segments of about 15 centimeters, leaving about 3 leaves in each section, and then cut them into the substrate. After cutting, attention should be paid to covering soil with plastic film to improve the moisturizing ability of soil, and rooting began to take root about 1 month after cutting. When growing intensively with the group and then transplanting, if properly managed, the survival rate of cutting can be as high as 90%, which is a commonly used method of large-scale propagation.
3. Striping propagation
Striping propagation should first select the branches for more than two years, and then peel off the lower part of the branches near the branches to destroy the phloem in this position and promote rooting in this position. Then wrap the wound with wet soil or grass in a sealed plastic bag and fasten the ends of the package to wait for it to take root. When the root is successfully rooted, the part below the root is cut short to make it a new plant and transplant it into the field. Striping propagation is generally carried out in the peak growth period of cherries, and the rooting rate is high, but the fruit quality will be affected to a certain extent.
4. Grafting propagation
Grafting propagation should use cherry seedlings and other rootstocks, and then select robust cherry plants as scions, usually at the end of spring before germination. Try to ensure that the thickness of the rootstock is the same as that of the scion, usually with split grafting and lean grafting. If you use split grafting, you should first select the grafting position on the rootstock, then cut off the excess branches, split the trunk about 3 cm, then keep the scion at about 10 cm, cut the grafting part into a wedge and insert it into the skin mouth in time. Then wrap the grafting interface with plastic film and clip the grafting clip to prevent air leakage. After grafting, the grafted seedlings should be placed in a cool place, properly sprayed with water to ensure sufficient moisture, properly ventilated according to the change of temperature, and then illuminated when the new buds grow.
The above is a brief introduction of several propagation methods of cherry, of which the most commonly used methods of large-scale planting are cutting propagation and grafting propagation, and the other two will have a certain impact on artificial labor, yield and quality, which is not conducive to expanding planting benefits. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. Thank you for your reading and support.
