It is distributed in all tea-producing provinces in China. Morphology: adult body wing tea brown, body length 15~20mm, wingspan 32~40mm. The front wing is nearly rectangular, the outer edge is grayish black, there are large khaki spots on the inside, and there is a small red protuberance in the center of the wing base. Egg horse tooth shape, about 1mm, light beige. The larva is slender and the abdomen is yellow and white.

The larvae are slender, the abdomen is yellow-white and slightly purple, the two dorsal plates of the abdomen are ossified, the pupa is long 18~20mm, yellowish brown, and there are brown ridges on the anterior and posterior edges of the 4th to 7th abdominal segments.

Life habits: there is one generation a year in Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces, with mature larvae overwintering in the damaged branches. The pupation began in the first and middle of April, and the adults began to appear in late April. Inactive during the day, usually the middle foot clings to the branches and leaves and hangs on the tea bushes. The larvae began to hatch in the first and middle of June. When the larva matures, it bites a round Eclosion hole in the upper part of the branch and is closed by white filament. the cavities below the hole are covered with flocs and pupate.

Control: cut off the branches of insect pests from June to August, combined with the control of other insect pests.
