Land selection and preparation: the nursery should choose sandy loam or loam soil with flat topography, convenient drainage and irrigation, deep soil layer, fertile soil and groundwater level below 1.5-2m. Low-lying land, saline-alkali land and clayey soil with too high groundwater level are not suitable to be nurseries. 2. Select the seed root: the 1-2-year-old seedling root should be selected, the remaining root after coming out of the nursery or the pruned seedling root. The best root length is 10-20Cm, and the diameter of big head is 1.5-4Cm. The collection time of seed root can be carried out from defoliation to pre-germination.

The time of root collection can be carried out from defoliation to pre-germination, usually from late February to mid-March. After the root is dug out, it should be cut into cuttings in time. Flat shear at the upper end and oblique shear at the lower end to prevent burying. The roots can also be picked and stored in autumn and buried in the following spring. The method of storage: select the place with leeward facing sun and good drainage, dig a storage ditch with a width of 1 m and a depth of 0.5-0.8 m, and the length depends on the number of seed roots. With the fine sand of 5-10Cm at the bottom of the ditch, put the big end of the seed root upward in the ditch, fill it with a layer of wet sand, and then place the second layer until it is 20Cm from the ground.

3. Burying your roots at the right time: it is best from late February to mid-March. In order to ensure the neat growth of seedlings, the classification of seed roots should be done before burying roots.

There are three kinds of root burying methods: direct burying, oblique burying and horizontal burying, among which direct burying is the best.

4. seedling management: after burying roots for about 20 days, it began to sprout at the end of March and the beginning of April, and basically appeared around the middle of May. The management of this period is mainly to loosen the soil and preserve soil moisture. When the height of the seedling is about 10Cm, several bright buds sent out from the root will be weak and strong in time, and the seedling will be fixed. From early May to late June, irrigation should be timely according to weather conditions, and soil should be cultivated at the base of the seedlings to promote the roots of the seedlings. From the end of June to the end of August, during the vigorous growth period of burying roots and seedlings, quick-acting chemical fertilizer was applied every 15-20 days, about 10 kg per mu or 400-500 kg of human feces and urine, combined with fertilization for irrigation. In late August, there is no longer watering and fertilization, so as not to cause the seedlings to grow in the later stage. In the process of seedling growth, we should do a good job in the prevention and control of seedling diseases and insect pests, and pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention.
