Morphological features:

Herbaceous flowers, basal leaves, strip-shaped, slender flowers drawn from the leaves, small, white flowers, clustered at the top of the pedicel, showing racemes.

Sometimes the flower turns into a stolon, and small plants grow at the top of the stolon.

C.comosum, leaves basal, slender, ca. 3 mm wide, 20 cm long; stolons drawn from leaves, 30 cm 80 cm long. There are 1-6 florets on the flower stem.

The short rhizome is clustered with cylindrical fleshy fibrous roots.

Flowering spring and summer, suitable environmental conditions, autumn and winter also often bloom.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions.

Growth habits:

Sex likes warm, humid and semi-shady environment, and the suitable temperature for growth is 15-20 ℃, which requires fertile soil and good drainage.

It is not resistant to severe cold and heat, the suitable growth temperature is 15 ℃ to 25 ℃, and the room temperature in winter should not be lower than 5 ℃. Avoid strong light in high temperature, keep sparse shade, see more sunlight when low temperature is cool, and keep leaf color bright.

Sandy culture soil with humus, loose and fertile, and strong permeability is required. Family cultivation, can be used waste gentleman orchid soil plus half of the fine sand mixed evenly, after exposure to drying and disinfection, planting is the most ideal.

Cultivation and management is relatively easy. Leaves are sensitive to light, lack of light, light green or yellowish green leaves; too strong light, leaves withered yellow, and even death. It is cultivated and maintained in the outdoor shade in summer.

The suitable temperature for growth is about 20 ℃. If it is cultivated in greenhouse in winter, more than 5 ℃ can survive the winter safely.

Purpose:

Cymbidium is a very common indoor potted foliage plant, which can be used as a shelf ornamental plant or hanging ornamental plant.

The whole herb can be used as medicine.

Cymbidium (var.mediopictum): the leaf blade has a wide white longitudinal pattern along the main vein.
