Last Updated: 2024/11/06, In recent years, with the need of greening and beautifying the environment, many organs, factories and schools have adapted measures to local conditions and set up ponds and fields to cultivate ornamental lotus root, which not only beautifies the environment and purifies the air, but also produces fresh lotus root, killing two birds with one stone. It's very popular. The cultivation techniques are introduced as follows. Generally speaking, there are two kinds of ornamental lotus root: red lotus root (pollen red) and white lotus root. The former has a short growth period and is an early-maturing variety, so it is easy to be used for ornamental cultivation, but the yield of fresh lotus root is partial.

In recent years, with the need of greening and beautifying the environment, many organs, factories and schools have adapted measures to local conditions and set up ponds and fields to cultivate ornamental lotus root, which not only beautifies the environment and purifies the air, but also produces fresh lotus root, killing two birds with one stone. It's very popular. The cultivation techniques are introduced as follows.

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of ornamental lotus root: red lotus root (pollen red) and white lotus root. The former has a short growth period and is an early-maturing variety, which is easy for ornamental cultivation, but the yield of fresh lotus root is low, while the latter has a longer growth period, but higher yield and good quality. Therefore, as a dual-use of viewing and production, we should choose the latter.

Second, soil preparation requires a large amount of fertilizer for lotus root. 2500 kg of rotten organic fertilizer, 50 kg of calcium superphosphate, 35 kg of ammonium bicarbonate and 15 kg of potassium nitride should be applied per mu before cultivation. After the beginning of spring, first of all, the field (pool) around the ridge, about 50 centimeters high, to smash the solid, to prevent leakage. Before preparing the soil, spread all the fertilizers evenly in the pond, then use a rotary tiller to cultivate and rake so that the fine soil is broken into mud paste, and then irrigate in shallow water to be planted.

Third, the planting time is 7 to 10 days after the Qingming Festival in the north of the Yangtze River, and it is easy to be attacked by late frost after sprouting mud prematurely. When planting, first dig the seed lotus root from the seed pool, select the individuals with strong, neat, disease-free and no damage, which should be dug, selected and planted at random. Planting density to row spacing of 2 meters, hole spacing of 1.5 meters is appropriate, depth of 10 to 15 centimeters, not floating, unwavering as the principle. Planting too deep due to low mud temperature will lead to slow sprouting and affect early growth and rapid development.

Fourth, the management should be timely after planting: first, the water level in the pool should be adjusted in time. After planting lotus root, it is appropriate to maintain a shallow water layer of 3 to 5 centimeters in the pond because of the low temperature in early spring. It is beneficial to increase the temperature of the soil and promote the early rooting and rapid germination of lotus root. Later, with the continuous rise of temperature, floating leaves, vertical leaves appear one after another, the increase of evaporation, the water level should gradually deepen to about 15 cm. Second, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time. After late June, the plant changed from vegetative growth to reproductive growth at the same time, which required a large amount of fertilizer, such as 20 kg urea, 25 kg calcium superphosphate and 15 kg potassium chloride per mu. After flower fade, in order to promote the rapid expansion of lotus root, 35 kg compound fertilizer per mu was applied, and 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1% urea mixture was sprayed on the leaf. Third, it is necessary to manage the lotus root whip (also known as walking stem) in time. After the lotus root is born, it is often exposed in the mud surface because of the erosion of Rain Water. If it is not fixed in time, it will affect the growth and development of the whole plant. Therefore, around noon (because the lotus root whip is soft and not easy to break), extend to the pool edge of the steering pool, the pool is too dense to turn to the thin place, after the whip tip should be buried in the mud. Fourth, it is necessary to prevent and control diseases and insect pests in time. The main insect pests are aphids, which are the most harmful in May, which often lead to the scorch of lotus root buds. After discovery, it can spray 1200 times liquid of 90% crystal trichlorfon or 10% net 2500 times liquid at one time. The main diseases are brown spot, leaf spot and so on, which mostly occur in July and are most susceptible to the disease after heavy rain. At the initial stage of the disease, 70% methyl topiramate 800 times solution can be sprayed, once every 7 to 10 days, continuous prevention and treatment for 2 to 3 times.
