Last Updated: 2024/11/09, Researcher Liu Fakui, an expert in wheat cultivation at the Wheat Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, reminded farmers that they should pay attention to the following problems in this year's wheat sowing: drainage and dehumidification, timely stubble preparation. Where the precipitation is too large and there is stagnant water in the field, effective measures such as digging ditches and drainage should be taken to remove the stagnant water in the field as soon as possible; where the precipitation is small and the humidity is not too large, it is necessary to pay close attention to the autumn harvest and dry the soil moisture and prepare the soil in time. Grasp the suitable tillage period and improve the quality of land preparation. For clayey soil, remember not to wet plough and rake.

Researcher Liu Fakui, an expert in wheat cultivation at the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, reminded farmers that they should pay attention to the following problems in this year's wheat sowing:

Drainage and dehumidification, timely stubble preparation.

For clayey soil, remember not to wet plough and wet rake, can adopt no-tillage direct seeding method; for two and soil or sandy loam, shallow ploughing and moisture drying can be adopted to strive for sowing date; paddy fields can be sown by sowing.

Pay attention to sowing date and variety. Spring varieties can not be sowed early. The suitable sowing date is October 15-20 in the north of the Yellow River and October 16-22 in the central and southern regions. Semi-winter varieties will not have a big problem if they are sown 3-5 days after the suitable sowing date. Properly increasing the amount of sowing can make up for the problem of lack of tillers. As long as it is not too late to sow, generally do not consider changing spring varieties.

Master the appropriate sowing rate. The suitable sowing rate for general semi-winter varieties and spring varieties is 5-7 kg and 7.5-10 kg respectively.

Increase the comprehensive fertilizer supply capacity of soil, and make a reasonable proportion of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. No matter it is high fertility field or medium fertility field, the amount of bottom nitrogen fertilizer should not be too large, and 7.5-12.5 kg of urea must be applied at the jointing stage of wheat next spring.

Pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests and vigorously promote the application of coated seeds.

Researcher Liu Fakui believes that although the heavy rainfall this autumn has brought certain adverse effects on the autumn harvest, soil preparation, and wheat sowing, we should be more aware of the positive impact of rainfall on wheat sowing and growth, and adequate soil moisture is very conducive to sowing the whole seedling. All localities must take scientific decisions according to the time and local conditions, so as to lay a good sowing foundation for a bumper wheat harvest next year.
