Boxwood bonsai has become an art treasure because of its small evergreen leaves and slow growth. Generally speaking, the poplar bonsai materials are mostly taken from the old wild piles by the water. Wild old piles are easy to blossom and bear fruit. Some people think that the flowering of yellow poplar is very "spectacular" and is a great scenery.

The author has more than 100 pots of wild yellow poplar pile scene, years of management practice, the author carefully observed and found that the flowering of yellow poplar is not a good thing. Because there are three disadvantages to the flowering of boxwood:

First, it destroys the leaf phase. The bud period of Populus tomentosa is long, from August of the first year to March of the following spring. The fine buds mingle in the axils of the leaves, affecting the beautiful appearance of the leaves. Especially before and after civilization, the large inflorescences of chopsticks masked the leaves and overshadowed the green landscape. The yellowish and fine florets are not good-looking and have no characteristics. What is more serious is that when the stakes with luxuriant flowering and strong fruit are in full bloom, the aging speed of the leaves will speed up suddenly, and when the flowers bloom, the leaves will already show a yellowing color. The leaves of some branches will fall off completely.

Second, it affected the growth of new leaves. The results show that if the flower buds are not bloomed or the stakes of the buds are removed in time in the first year, a new leaf can be sent in the autumn of the same year. The first new leaves germinated in March in the next spring, and the second new leaves germinated in May. On the other hand, the posts that leave buds and blossom not only do not sprout new leaves in the autumn of that year, but also have to delay the hair of new teeth by at least a month in the next spring. In particular, the time of the new leaves of the friends is not uniform, the branches without flowers sprout first, the ones with less flowers take the second place, and the ones with more flowers are more than one month behind. This not only destroys the unity and harmony of the landscape, but also affects the stability of the tree, and increases the number of trimming.

Third, it weakens the power. Plant flowering requires a lot of nutrients, although this can be supplemented by fertilization, but it can not fundamentally solve the problem. Especially the yellow poplar, which is mainly for viewing leaves, should concentrate its nutrients on the maintenance of branches and leaves in order to keep its leaves green and bright. When the pen opens, it is found that the piles with luxuriant blossoms often have the phenomenon of "retreating branches", that is, some branches are densely knotted to the leaves, and the branches will show a "dumb branch" state after flowering, do not sprout, and slowly weaken and die in the future. From this point of view, it is better to keep a flower in boxwood bonsai. So, when is the right time to clear the buds? The author's experience is that New Year's Day is the most ideal before and after (in Hunan). This is because Huang Yang flower buds are small and numerous, early wiping buds, inconvenient operation, easy to accidentally hurt leaves; too late and can not achieve the purpose of leaf cultivation. But if you want the pile to send a new leaf in November, you have to remove the bud when it is budding in September. The goal can be achieved by applying topdressing after removing buds. However, generally speaking, if it is not for the autumn plum exhibition to update the leaf phase, do not let it sprout new leaves in the autumn plum. Because the new leaves are difficult to resist the frost and snow in the cold winter, it affects the shape and potential of the tree. If the time can't be remitted, it can be postponed to February. But it has to be done before it melts. It was observed that after removing buds at this time, the leaf color turned green after a week, and new buds sprouted in the leaf axil two weeks later.
