National orchid watering needs to deal with the five relations.

1. Watering and orchid species. Due to the different growth habits of each orchid species, the requirements for water are also different. Jianlan likes to be wet, but avoid stagnant water of plant material. Don't get wet when it's dry. If it's too wet, it's easy to rot roots and seedlings. Cold orchid has well-developed root system and strong drought tolerance, and the basin soil should be dry. Suxinlan, Ye Yilan require seven dry and three wet, too wet is easy to degenerate.

2. Watering and orchid pots. The texture of the mud basin is rough, the permeability is strong, and the water is easy to evaporate. It should be watered frequently, watered more and watered thoroughly. The plastic basin has the advantages of low density, poor air permeability and slow water consumption. It is watered once a day in summer and autumn and once in 3-5 days in winter and spring. The density of glazed porcelain basin is smaller, the air permeability is worse, and the watering interval should be longer.

3. Watering and planting materials. There are two kinds of plant materials: soft plant and hard plant. Because of their different types and textures, the requirements for water are also different. Soft plant material has fine particles, rich in humus, strong water holding capacity and poor air permeability. The hard plant material has the advantages of large particle size, strong hydrophobic permeability and poor water retention. According to the principle of watering, soft materials should be "dry rather than wet" and hard plants should be "wet rather than dry". That is to say, the watering interval of soft plant material should be long, and the hard plant material should be watered frequently and thoroughly.

4. Watering and season. Due to different seasons, orchids have different requirements for water. With the gradual rise of temperature in spring, orchids have entered the growing period from recovery. The potted soil in the flowering period should keep damp and avoid moisture, the watering in the dormant period should be less, and those in the growing period should keep the plant material moist and not dry. The summer light is strong, the temperature is high, the water evaporates quickly, the orchid is in the vigorous growth period, watering must be sufficient, and spray is needed sooner or later to increase the air humidity, reduce the temperature and promote the rapid growth of orchid plants. Early autumn is in a period of high temperature and high humidity, so watering should be properly controlled, otherwise the roots will rot or even the seedlings will fall. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the temperature turns cool, according to the "autumn does not dry" principle, should be timely and appropriate amount of watering. The temperature is low in winter, and most orchid plants enter the dormant period. According to the requirement of "winter is not wet", watering should be controlled and the basin soil should be dry.

5. Watering and growth. For orchid pots of the same variety and the same size, due to the different number of orchid plants, daily watering should be different. A large number of more watering, less watering, pots and pots because of the different growth of orchid plants, watering times and water quantity are not the same. Those with strong growth should be watered more, while those with weak growth and diseased plants should be irrigated less or not for the time being.
