Cultivation techniques of heading red chicory
1) varieties. There are many varieties of red chicory in Europe, and their colors and shapes vary greatly. We have introduced the conventional varieties and hybrid varieties of Holland and France, but we have not selected the varieties suitable for cultivation in spring and summer, and the seed purity is not good, which has a great impact on the yield. After trial planting, the Beacon of Bijiu Company of the Netherlands performed better. The Beacon variety grows neatly, the outer leaf is green, the ball is round red, the leaf vein is white, the ball is beautiful, and it has a certain tolerance to bolting.
2) preparing land, fertilizing and making beds. Red chicory is not strict on soil and needs moderate fertilizer. It is appropriate to apply 45000 kg mature organic fertilizer per hectare and 750kg compound fertilizer to form a 1.33m wide flat border, which can also be covered with plastic film and cultivated with drip irrigation.
3) Seedling ① sowing date. It is cultivated in summer and autumn in Beijing, and it is usually sown in the middle and late June. Under suitable conditions, red chicory is generally harvested about 100 days after sowing, and the whole growing period is 120-130 days because of irregular growth. If the northern region needs to be harvested before the Spring Festival, it needs to be sown in the first and middle of August. When the temperature is suitable, the seedling age is about 30 days. If the temperature is low during the seedling period, it is necessary to build a small arch shed in the solar greenhouse. ② seedling raising method. If there are conditions, you can use the hole plate to raise seedlings, generally choose the 128-hole hole plate, or you can use the flat bed to sow seedlings. ③ colonization and colonization density. Generally, the plant can be planted when the seedling grows to 5-7 leaves, and the row spacing varies according to the variety and planting season. The row spacing of early-maturing varieties is about 0.33 meters, and that of middle-late-maturing varieties is not less than 0.4-0.5 meters. Because of the suitable planting conditions in autumn, the plants should grow plump and should be sparsely planted. The planting density in spring and summer should be higher than that in autumn, and the density should be increased in greenhouse cultivation in winter in the north. ④ management after colonization. The management of red chicory is relatively simple. Watering fixed planting water after planting, watering seedling water after 5-7 days, ploughing and weeding once after slowing seedling water, promoting leaf growth in rosette stage, applying nitrogen fertilizer properly, 150 kg urea per hectare. During the heading period, water and fertilizer will increase, watering and fertilizing once every 5-10 days, depending on the weather. Topdressing in the later stage should be applied according to the ratio of N: P: K = 1:0:2.

First, appropriate amount of fertilizer. There are usually two ways to top fertilizer. ① topdressing underground. Generally, you can topdressing urea and other available fertilizers. Trench between rows, apply fertilizer to the ditch, and then cover the soil. Fertilizer can also be diluted, evenly sprayed on the seedbed (ridge, border), and then rinse the plant with clean water. In general, urea is applied 1520 kg per mu, once again after 15 days, and 2 times for 3 times. ② topdressing outside the root. In autumn, 0.2% urea plus 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution was sprayed. Broad-leaved trees had better not fertilize after the beginning of autumn.

Perennial herbs, often cultivated perennially, sowed in four seasons in greenhouse, sowed in mid-November and flowered in mid-April; sowed in early January and flowered in mid-May; sown in early April and flowered in early July; sowed in early July and flowered in early September Sowing in late September, flowering from April to May, without soil mulching, soaking method, the optimum temperature for germination was 20: 25 ℃, the growth temperature was 10: 30 ℃, 4 true leaves were transplanted and once coring after planting, the flowering period of sowing in early autumn was the longest, and the flowering period was from April to October. It can be used for potted plants, flower beds, balconies and floors.
