During the period of growth and development, pigs need more vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin D, vitamin E, etc., such as the long-term lack of green feed in the diet, single feed or improper feed, will cause some kind of vitamin deficiency. The symptoms and treatments of several common vitamin deficiencies are described as follows.

(1) Vitamin A deficiency in pigs

Vitamin A deficiency is a nutritional metabolic disease caused by the destruction of provitamin A (carotene) in feed due to improper storage of green fodder and roughage in diet. in addition, the lack of major elements in feed, lack of exercise, and gastrointestinal diseases can also promote the occurrence of the disease.

1. Symptoms:

Pigs suffer from vitamin A deficiency, the course of the disease is slow, and it takes about 1-3 months to show obvious symptoms. The growth of bones and teeth is inhibited, dry skin, keratosis of hair follicles, depilation, decreased resistance of epithelial tissue, susceptibility to infection, trembling, bow, movement disorder, head often inclined to one side, walking instability, weakness of hindlimb, dry eye, corneal reflux, severe night blindness, blind, deformed or even stillborn piglets, declining sexual function of boars, poor sperm motility and sperm death. It doesn't deserve to have a baby or have fewer piglets.

2. Treatment:

Each pig was intramuscularly injected with 1-4 ml of vitamin Amurd once a day, and each pig was fed with concentrated cod liver oil drops 0.2-3 ml twice a day for 5-10 days as a course of treatment.

(2) Vitamin B2 deficiency:

The deficiency of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) in pigs is a nutritional and metabolic disease caused by the destruction of B2 caused by improper treatment of green feed or feed and the disturbance of substance metabolism in pigs.

1. Symptoms:

Pigs, such as lack of vitamin B2, mainly manifested as oral inflammation and tongue ulcer, keratoconjunctiva inflammation. Severely diseased pigs with bent feet and thick skin. Some have skin diagnosis, scales and ulcers, hair removal, growth retardation, digestive disorders and vomiting, and cataract.

2. Treatment:

Vitamin B2 deficiency, can be intramuscular injection of vitamin B2 injection 1-4 ml, or multivitamin injection 2-8 ml, once a day, continuous injection for 3-5 days, can also be oral riboflavin tablets 1-8 tablets (piglet 1), twice a day, 3-5 times.

(3) Vitamin E deficiency in pigs:

Vitamin E in pigs is not only an effective physiological antioxidant, but also protects selenides which are easily oxidized in subcellular mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. The lack of vitamin E can make selenides easily oxidized. due to the lack of selenium and vitamin E in pigs, it can cause various forms of nutritional diseases, which mostly occur in 2-month-old piglets and 4-5-month-old pigs.

1. Symptoms:

Acute episodes are more common in sudden death without warning symptoms. At the beginning of subacute illness, loss of spirit, loss of appetite, systemic subcutaneous edema, rapid heartbeat, a small number of diseased pigs appear molars, discharge light red or brownish red urine, the course of disease is generally 3-5 days, the general course of chronic disease can be delayed for more than 15 days, the hair of sick pigs is rough, loss of appetite, diarrhea standing, the two hind legs frequently alternate weight-bearing, muscle trembling, like lying on the ground, and some front legs kneeling, or dogs sitting, shortness of breath.

When pigs lack vitamin E, it will affect the normal development of sow embryos, causing abortion, premature delivery or stillbirth. When boars lack vitamin E, sperm motility is not strong, dead sperm or azoospermia.

2. Therapeutic intramuscular injection of vitamin E 100-300 ml, once a day, for 7 days as a course of treatment.
