As the lotus seed is covered with a hard shell, the concave end of the shell should be broken, and then soaked in 26-30 ℃ water to promote germination. Wait for the bud to grow, but also soaked in water to prevent dehydration and atrophy, grow to 4 leaves and 1 whip, it can be planted in the field. Because of the slow growth in the initial stage, lotus seeds must be raised in the protected field one month in advance in order to produce lotus roots with commercial value in the same year. -- whole lotus root reproduction. The whole branch of the main lotus root, together with the seed lotus root and the grandson lotus root, is planted according to a certain row spacing, and inserted at the top.

-- whole lotus root reproduction. The whole branch of the main lotus root together with the son lotus root and the grandson lotus root is planted according to a certain row spacing, the top is inserted into the mud, the tail tip is exposed and inserted diagonally.

-- the lotus root propagates. The seed lotus root refers to the lateral branch on the main end. There are one-node, two-node, and four-node lotus root; this is related to the place where the lotus root is born on the main lotus root, the closer to the lotus root head, the less the number of nodes; the closer to the tip of the lotus root, the more nodes. No matter which section of lotus root is, it can be cut off and propagated separately.

-- propagation of lotus root. That is, you can cut off the top section of the main lotus root to make seed, and you can also cut off the top section of lotus root to make seed.

-- lotus root node reproduction. That is, cut 5-6 cm from the node to plant seeds, which is to use the axillary buds on the lotus root node to propagate.

-- terminal bud propagation. That is, cut off the buds at the top of the main lotus root or lotus root together with the basal node, and insert them in the soft soil seedbed. When cutting, if the temperature is still low, it needs to be covered with plastic film. The field can only be planted when adventitious roots grow on the basal node of the terminal bud, 2-3 leaflets grow at the top, and the external temperature has stabilized above 15 ℃. Planting method: the adventitious root and lotus whip are buried in the mud, the leaflets are exposed to the water, after planting, we should pay attention to shallow water irrigation, in order to improve the mud temperature and promote early development.

Lotus whip cuttings. After the bud on the lotus root in the field extends the lotus whip and grows to the branch, the two lotus whips with terminal buds (which keep two leaves above) are dug up and transplanted into the field. When planting, the bud head and lotus whip are shallowly buried in the mud, and the lotus leaves should reach out to the water.

All of the above methods can propagate new lotus root. The most economical way to use seed is terminal bud propagation, but it should be carefully managed; lotus seed propagation can also save lotus seed, but lotus root is cross-pollinated, and its offspring often grow into many types with low commodity value, so it is generally not used except breeding; whole lotus root seed is a traditional way, the amount of seed is too large; lotus root node is the use of its axillary buds, the growth ability is weak, and should not be used. It is better to propagate by using lotus root or lotus root, and lotus whip cuttage can be used as seedling supplement or late planting.
