Approval number: national examination and approval rice 2006073

Variety name: Luodao 998

Breeding unit: Luoyang Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Henan Province

Variety source: upland rice 277 system breeding

Characteristics: this variety belongs to japonica conventional upland rice. The whole growth period of wheat stubble upland rice in Huang-Huai-Hai area is 108 days, which is one day earlier than that of the control upland rice 277. The plant type is compact, the tillering ability is medium, the plant height is 94.6cm, the ear length is 18.1cm, the number of effective panicles per mu is 196000, the panicle rate is 64.8%, the total grains per panicle is 96.7, the seed setting rate is 74.2%, and the 1000-grain weight is 27 grams. Resistance: moderately susceptible to leaf blast, susceptible to panicle neck blast; drought resistance grade 3. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 62.8%, chalky grain rate 61.0%, chalkiness 11.2%, gel consistency 66 mm, amylose content 16.86%.

Yield performance: in 2004, we participated in the regional trial of upland rice varieties of middle and late maturity group in Huang-Huai-Hai wheat stubble area, the average yield per mu was 314.6 kg, which was 10.1% higher than that of the control upland rice 277 (extremely significant). In 2005, the average yield per mu was 300.9 kg, 11.4% higher than that of the control upland rice 277 (extremely significant). The average yield per mu in the two-year regional trial was 307.8 kg, 10.8% higher than that of the control upland rice 277. In the production experiment in 2005, the average yield per mu was 308.9 kg, which was 8.6% higher than that of the control upland rice 277.

Main points of cultivation: 1. Seed treatment: seed dressing with chemical and micro-fertilizer or seed coating agent before sowing to control diseases and insect pests at seedling stage. two。 Sowing: the Huang-Huai region is generally sown in early June, with a sowing rate of 6kg / mu, a depth of 2cm and a row spacing of 20cm. 3. Weeding: herbicides were used to seal the soil after sowing and before emergence, the stems and leaves of weeds were treated with appropriate herbicides at seedling stage, and weeds in the field should be pulled out in time in the middle and later stage. 4. Fertilizer and water management: 3000kg to 5000kg rotten organic fertilizer, 40kg compound fertilizer, 1kg ferrous sulfate and 2kg zinc sulfate per mu before sowing, 10 kg urea per mu in five-leaf stage combined irrigation, 7kg urea per mu in jointing stage, 3kg / mu urea before and after heading, timely irrigation in case of drought during growth period, irrigation for 4 times in general year. 5. Pest control: before sowing, insecticides were used to control underground pests, rice thrips and cabbage insects were controlled at seedling stage, rice leaf roller and rice planthopper were controlled from tillering stage to heading stage, and rice blast was controlled from breaking to heading stage.

Approval opinion: this variety conforms to the national rice variety approval standard and has been approved. This variety has high yield, good yield stability, strong drought resistance, susceptible to rice blast and general rice quality. It is suitable to be planted as summer sowing upland rice in the Huang-Huai Valley of Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong and Hanzhong of Shaanxi Province.
