Hemerocallis is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine and flowers in China. Hemerocallis has various effects such as clearing heat, diuresis and treating edema. It is mainly used for the treatment of dysuria, hematuria, hematochezia, etc. Its medicinal value is relatively high. And before or a commonly used dye, its ornamental value is not low. Now more and more people grow daylily, so how to breed when planting daylily? The following small series brings you the breeding method of Hemerocallis fulva. Let's take a look together!

1. Sowing and breeding

Sowing propagation is the most common method of propagation in Hemerocallis cultivation, usually beginning to harvest seeds around September each year. And then to the next spring sowing, in the sowing before first to prepare the seedbed, deep ploughing soil preparation work, control the area of the seedbed. Dig the drainage ditch, then control the planting density, dig the planting ditch, and then put the seeds evenly into the planting ditch. After sowing, cover with fine soil, irrigate enough water, water properly before seedling emergence, do a good job of weeding, ensure that the soil is moist, and transplant it about in the autumn of that year.

2. Plant division and propagation

Rite propagation is usually carried out in the spring of each year. First, the old daylily is uprooted, and then the old dead roots and fibrous roots are divided. When dividing, pay attention to each cluster with buds, control the row spacing for planting, and plant about 5 trees in each planting hole. When planting, pay attention to the planting depth, not too deep, irrigate enough root water after planting, do a good job of shading, keep the soil moist. Then according to the growth situation appropriate topdressing, do a good job of intertillage weeding work, and every autumn and winter season to pay attention to soil cultivation, combined with intertillage weeding together. And then every four years or so to re-plant, ensure that Hemerocallis grow vigorously.

3. Cutting propagation

The time of cutting propagation of Hemerocallis fulva is generally carried out in spring and autumn every year, and the adventitious buds on the old Hemerocallis fulva plants are cut off as cuttings. Then the cuttings are disinfected and germinated, the cutting matrix is prepared, and the cuttings are vertically cut in the matrix. Water properly, keep soil moist, improve soil moisture retention ability, and apply slow release fertilizer properly when cutting roots. Then, the illumination time and intensity are increased, and the cuttings are transplanted when the root heads are full. After cutting and withering, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be applied appropriately every year to promote the growth of roots and improve the flowering rate in the coming year.

4. Bud propagation

Bud propagation is mainly to cut down the small plants on the flower stem of Hemerocallis fulva. If the plants are too large, they should be cut twice between planting buds. Then, as with cuttings, prepare the matrix, disinfect the buds, and transplant them appropriately. Under normal management, roots can be taken after about 7 days of transplantation. After rooting, strengthen management according to seedling management method to improve survival rate. The method of bud propagation can improve planting yield and expand planting benefits.

The above is a simple introduction to the propagation method of Hemerocallis fulva, in fact, there are tissue culture methods, mainly using tender leaves, flower sprouts and other organs of Hemerocallis fulva cultured into plants. However, it is more troublesome to operate, so few people use this method when breeding. Today's introduction is here, this article is for reference only, thank you for reading and support.
