Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Recently, many friends asked me how to conserve potted geraniums. Here are some of my experiences in conserving potted geraniums: 1. Potted soil. Potted geranium can be cultivated with rotten leaf soil, peat soil plus 1 up to 5 river sand and a small amount of cake fertilizer as base fertilizer.

Recently, many friends have asked me how to maintain potted geraniums. Here are some of my experiences in conserving potted geraniums.

1. Potted soil. Potted geranium can be cultivated with rotten leaf soil, peat soil plus 1 beat 5 river sand and a small amount of cake fertilizer as base fertilizer, as well as compost soil, rotten leaf soil, garden soil, river sand and a small amount of bone powder as culture soil.

2. Light and temperature. Sex likes sunny and cool climate, afraid of hot and humid heat, so autumn, winter and spring should be cultivated in places with direct sunlight. In the summer high temperature season, when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees, that is, it enters a semi-dormant state, fertilization should be stopped and watering should be controlled. From the beginning of summer, move the flowerpot to the cool and ventilated place or the north windowsill and balcony, and at the same time often spray water to cool down.

3. Watering. Prefer fertilizer, slightly resistant to dryness, but afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, the vigorous growth of spring and autumn, it is appropriate to apply a combination of nitrogen and phosphorus liquid fertilizer every half a month. Usually watering to keep the basin soil moist for the degree, avoid stagnant water in the basin. Otherwise, it will lead to rotting roots and even plant death.

Not hardy, enter the house before the early frost in the early and mid-October in the northern region. The amount of watering is determined according to the room temperature in winter. If the room temperature can only be maintained at 6-8 degrees, watering should be strictly controlled to keep the basin soil slightly moist; if the room temperature can be kept above 12 degrees, watering should be more appropriate, and dilute liquid fertilizer should be applied once every half a month so that it can continue to grow. Some varieties can continue to bloom.

4. Change the basin. Geranium grows fast, and it is suitable for the Beginning of Autumn to return the pot and change the soil once a year. He left the room in late April this year. Watering in spring should not be too much, otherwise it is easy to cause the plant to grow too long or yellow leaves, affecting flowering.

Geranium (details)

1. Lighting: geraniums actually like light, especially in autumn, we should find a way to give full light. Because of the balcony, my flower rack basically changes with the light every season. If conditions permit, winter should also be given the maximum possible light, and summer should be placed in a shining place to avoid dying.

2, temperature: the most suitable temperature for geranium is 10 Murray 20 degrees Celsius, that is, spring and autumn is the most suitable, too cold in winter and too hot in summer. So in summer, you must prevent the sun from being exposed to the sun and put it in a cool place. In winter, the indoor temperature should not be lower than 0 °, otherwise it will be frostbitten. If there is no warm equipment, turning on a 200 °light bulb in a small room also has a certain anti-freezing effect.

3, planting basin: although the geranium does not belong to a large plant, but the basin is small, especially the drop-down geranium, it is best to choose a higher basin, and then the soil surface is slightly higher away from the basin mouth. This can avoid growing up too heavy and breaking is equivalent to a small bracket, and the upright one should choose a basin of about 20 centimeters as far as possible. however, the angel's eye, if you want to raise well, you need a basin of more than 30 centimeters.

4. Fertilization: too much fertilizer at one time will cause dehydration of the geranium. If you apply too much fertilizer, for example, too much nitrogen fertilizer will cause the plant to grow wildly and not blossom, too much fertilization and logistical watering can relieve the symptoms.

5. Planting soil: geranium is suitable to survive in sandy soil, and the soil bought in the flower market mixed with some sandy soil is more beneficial to the growth of geranium.

6. Watering: geraniums are taboo to be overwatered. If the roots of geraniums are found to fester, it may be due to overwatering and muggy weather. The frequency of watering is controlled to be watered once every three or two days, with a large amount of water each time to ensure that it is thoroughly watered.

7. Weather influence: the windy weather will blow the geranium, while the heavy rain will make the root system of the geranium soaked by Rain Water, causing the root to breathe anoxia and fester.

Breeding methods and picture care of geraniums Pelargonium is an ornamental flower commonly planted in families, because it has a long flowering period and can open during the Spring Festival, so it has always been loved by people. Then, the propagation method of geranium is one of the flower cultivation techniques that we must master. Potted geraniums are generally propagated by sowing and cutting. the specific requirements are as follows: 1. Sowing and breeding can be carried out in spring and autumn, and indoor pot sowing in spring is better. The optimum temperature for germination is 20-25 ℃. The geranium seed is not large, and the soil cover should not be deep after sowing, and it will germinate in about 2-5 days. It will sow in autumn and blossom in the summer of the following year. After sowing and propagation, excellent intermediate varieties can be selected and bred. 2. Cutting propagation can be cut except geranium in semi-dormancy from June to July. It is better to use spring and autumn. High temperature in summer, cuttings are easy to blacken and rot. The cuttings are 10 cm long, and the top part is the best, with vigorous growth and fast rooting. After cutting the cuttings, let the cut dry for several days, form a thin film, and then insert it into the sand bed or the mixed matrix of expanded perlite and peat, be careful not to hurt the bark of the cuttings, otherwise the wound will rot easily. After insertion, put it in a semi-shaded place and keep it at room temperature for 13-18 ℃. It will take root after 14-21 days. When the root length is 3-4 cm, it can be potted. Soaking the base of cuttings with 0.01% indolebutyric acid for 2 seconds can improve the survival rate and rooting rate of cuttings. Generally, geranium cuttings blossom for 6 months, that is, cutting in January, flowering in June, cutting in October, and flowering in February to March of the following year.

Matters needing attention for the maintenance of geraniums potted geranium, rotten leaf soil mixed with appropriate amount of sand and rice chaff ash as soil, plus a small amount of bone powder. The pot should be changed once a year and the new culture soil should be replaced to facilitate growth and flowering. The basin change should be carried out from mid-August to early September. Before changing the basin, the plant should be trimmed and shaped, and the basin should be changed after the basin soil and cut are dry. When changing, trim some longer and excessive fibrous roots appropriately. Put it in the sunny place with good ventilation in the middle and late April every year for maintenance. In order to make it blossom continuously, the fertilizer and water of thin mature cake should be applied frequently, and it is appropriate to apply it every 10 days. You don't need to water too much at ordinary times. Otherwise, it will cause leaves to turn yellow, plant growth is poor, can not form a robust bud. Control watering: generally should be in the leaf tip wilting re-watering, watering must be thoroughly. From late June to early August, the climate is hot and pelargonium is in a semi-dormant state. Fertilization should be stopped and watering should be controlled. High temperature, direct sunlight and stagnant water in the basin after rain will affect the dormancy of geraniums and even the death of rotten roots. Therefore, the dormant period should be put on the shady balcony, windowsill, or the courtyard to avoid the light and not be drenched by rain. This can also reduce dormancy time. Environmental requirements: adjust the environmental maintenance according to the temperature during the farming season. Generally placed in spring and autumn in outdoor maintenance; summer high temperature into the semi-dormant period, should stop fertilization, placed in a ventilated semi-shaded place is appropriate; such as ventilation, shade cooling means, can make it open dormancy ahead of time, early growth and development and flowering; outdoor should pay attention to prevent hot sun exposure, high temperature and humidity, rainy basin water; winter should be placed indoors or greenhouse maintenance. In modern family life, air conditioning can be used to adjust the appropriate temperature, as long as the light conditions can be met, the geranium can achieve annual flowering. Fertilizer and water management: when the temperature drops in autumn, the geranium plants begin to grow and enter the peak growth period. at this time, the management of fertilizer and water should be strengthened, applying dilute nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound liquid fertilizer every 10 days or so, and increasing the application of phosphorus and potassium diluted liquid fertilizer in early spring, autumn and winter. The basin soil should be kept moist and avoid thick fertilizer and high humidity. Proper pruning: moderate retraction and pruning of the overgrown branches and post-anthesis branches of the geranium, promote the development of new branches, and avoid re-pruning; remove the old yellow leaves to make the plant clean and the flowers beautiful. Pruning and coring in order to promote more flowering of the more branched geranium, it is necessary to pick the heart of the plant many times to promote it to increase branching and bud pregnancy. After shedding the flowers, cut off the residual flowers at the right time, cut off the too dense and thin branches, so as not to consume too much nutrients, but it is cold in winter and should not be re-cut.
