Feeding and management of young quails
Quail breeding is now very extensive in China, and it is relatively simple to raise quails. However, farmed quails have different feeding and management methods at each growth stage, especially when quails are young. Quail is relatively weak in its infancy, and improper management may lead to the death of quail and affect the efficiency of breeding. So the editor today brings you the feeding and management methods of young quails, let's have a look!
1. Drinking water management
Quail chicks are small and unstable in their standing. When they get wet, they can easily cause their center of gravity to be unstable and fall down, and will be trampled by other quails. Therefore, when we feed drinking water, we try to use plastic drinking cups to form suitable drinking water utensils for young quails, which will not be spilled easily to prevent getting wet. When the young quail is to be put into the nursery, let it rest for 1-2 hours, then feed drinking water, pay attention to the water temperature, and do not feed cold water. It is best to heat and disinfect the water before feeding, to ensure that every young quail can drink water, and those who have no desire to drink should be fed manually.
2. Feed management
The young quail can eat at the right time after 25-27 hours of breaking its shell and about 4 hours after the first drink. The first time feed uses cooked eggs or cornmeal, the first diet of young quails is very small, so be sure to control the amount of feed to prevent waste of feed. When feeding, put the feed in the trough and let the young quails eat on their own. Make sure that every young quail can eat the feed. After eating, the residual feed should be cleaned in time to prevent the young quails from eating by mistake after the feed deteriorated, resulting in gastrointestinal diseases and affecting the efficiency of breeding.
3. Daily management
When raising young quails, the growth should be observed regularly every day, the main observation direction is activity, eating, feces, etc., after problems should be timely inspection, make corresponding measures. Then every day to regularly clean feces, clean water trough, disinfection, cut off the transmission of diseases and insect pests. After the sun goes down, artificial lighting should be carried out to ensure that there is sufficient light time every day. Control the temperature, ensure that the temperature in the breeding room is within the suitable range of young quails, do a good job of ventilation, and ensure the growth environment.
4. Cut off the beak in time
Beak breaking work is very important for young quails, because quails have pecking habits, if they do not break their beaks in time, quails will peck feathers, eggs and so on. Seriously affect the growth of quails, and will also increase the cost of breeding. The beak of the young quail can be broken from half a month to one month, and vitamin K, vitamin C and sedatives should be added to the feed before the beak is broken. Then the beak is cut off in a suitable temperature environment, and the method of beak breaking is very critical. First of all, hold the lower beak with the index finger, cut off half of the upper beak with a special beak breaker, and retain the lower beak of 2 + 3. After the beak is broken, the hemostatic work should be done well, and the material should not be cut off within two days to prevent the beak from bleeding at the bottom of the trough.
The above is a brief introduction to the feeding and management technology of young quails, which has a great impact on the growth of quails in the middle and later stage. Therefore, we must do a good job in feeding and management to ensure the healthy growth of quails. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only.
