Kidney bean, commonly known as kidney bean or kidney bean, is a common legume vegetable in our life. When we plant kidney bean, we often encounter some problems. Diseases and insect pests are a headache for farmers, which seriously affect the yield of kidney beans and the income of farmers. So what are the common diseases and insect pests of kidney beans? How to prevent and cure it? Let's take a look.

1. Anthrax

The incidence of kidney bean anthracnose is more serious in rainy season, which not only affects the yield, but also reduces the commercial value of kidney bean. The disease can be distinguished in the whole growth period, mainly harming stems and leaves and leaf pods. Leaves appear brown round disease spot, serious disease spot cracking or perforation, and finally the leaf withered; pods appear brown spots, gradually spread into a round spot, when the humidity is high, it will also spill pink sticky matter.

Control methods: reasonable rotation, select varieties with strong disease resistance, select planting and sowing without disease, and disinfect seeds with carbendazim before sowing. Methyl topiramate and anthrax Fumei can be sprayed to prevent and cure the disease.

2. Bacterial blight

Also known as fire disease, the disease is serious in the period of high temperature and rain. the disease mainly harms vines, leaves, pods and seeds. During the disease of the seedlings, the leaves appeared waterlogged disease spots, which gradually turned into reddish brown ulcers, and the disease spots would circle around the stems and vines, resulting in the seedlings breaking and dying. When the adult plant occurs, the leaf tip or leaf edge appears water-stained dark green disease spot, which gradually expands into irregular brown disease spot, and finally leads to the death of the whole leaf.

Control methods: reasonable rotation, select excellent varieties with strong disease resistance, soak seeds with streptomycin sulfate before sowing, and then sow seeds with thiram before sowing. The disease can be prevented and treated with agricultural streptomycin, once every 7-10 days, 2-3 times in a row, and the effect is better.

3. Sclerotinia disease

Sclerotinia sclerotiorum mainly harms stems, leaves, pods, and branches, first infects the main stem and leaf axils, appears light green spots, then gradually becomes larger, and finally forms waterlogged spots, which are sticky and slippery on the surface, and then dry, showing grayish brown and white.

Control methods: reasonable rotation, not with legume crops, rape, mustard, sunflower and other crops, sclerotia net prevention can be sprayed at the early flowering stage

4. Insect pests

The main pests of kidney bean are root nematodes, root maggots, slugs, aphids, red spiders, whitefly, Liriomyza huidobrensis and so on, which can harm the roots, leaves, stems and pods of kidney bean plants.

Control methods: after harvest, combined with clearing the garden, ploughing the soil to reduce the source of insects, or spraying thiazophos and tetraacetaldehyde particles to control the disease.
