The specific way to spend the winter is to cut off the old canna plant from the lower part of the stem before Frosts Descent, and then apply some plant ash to the wound to dry it. In the north, if the winter is very cold, it is possible to freeze the canna covered with storage, so it is possible to dig out the underground rhizomes and store them for the winter.

After the canna has withered, cut it off, then dig out the rhizome, dry it, you can bury it in a ventilated place indoors, hide it with sand, keep the temperature above 5 ℃, and do not water it, so you can pass the winter safely.

Or choose the outdoor leeward to the sunny place, dig a hole to bury it, the depth is generally about 1m--1, 5m, fill some straw and soil, you can safely spend the winter.

After the temperature picks up in the spring of the following year, it can be taken out and planted.

Storage method of Canna Rhizome in Winter

Canna is native to tropical America and its underground rhizome is extremely hardy. Every year before the arrival of the early frost after autumn, we should dig them out as soon as possible, cut off the leaves on the ground, shake the soil clean, spread them flat on the ground, dry the appearance and whisker roots, and put them into the cellar. Because the temperature of the cellar is relatively stable and humid, the rhizome will be stored for a longer time.
