Blueberry, also known as Benedictine and persimmon, is a small fruit of a shrub originated in North America. Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins and other nutrients needed by the human body, which can prevent brain nerve aging, strengthen and protect vision, strengthen the heart, soften blood vessels and enhance human immunity. So how do blueberries usually grow seedlings? Today, let's mainly learn how to raise blueberries.

1. Seedling site selection

Blueberry has certain requirements on the planting land, generally speaking, it will choose the soil with rich soil organic matter and soil pH of 4.0-5.5, and the drainage and irrigation system near the planting site is perfect, transportation is developed, and it is far away from pollution sources. The soil preparation is to turn the land deeply, the clods should be fine and the impurities in the seedling land should be cleaned up. Finally, before raising seedlings, we also need to configure the substrate for raising seedlings, apply basic fertilizer, and after everything is ready, we can proceed to the next step.

2. Seedling raising time

The time of raising seedlings is usually in the spring every year, when blueberries are most vigorous, so the emergence rate and survival rate will be much higher. The best time to raise seedlings in spring is between February and April every year. Of course, when raising seedlings, the soil temperature of the planting site had better be ten degrees or above, otherwise the rate of germination will be very slow.

3. Seedling raising method

There are four methods to raise blueberry seedlings, which are seed propagation, cutting propagation, ramet propagation and grafting propagation. At present, the most commonly used methods are seed breeding and cutting jade seedlings, the survival rate of these two kinds will be higher, and the quality of blueberries is high. The seeds need to be treated with variable temperature and soaked with gibberellin to improve the germination rate of seeds. Cutting seedling is to select the strong branches of excellent varieties without diseases and insect pests, and then cut into sections five or six centimeters long, and then use a press to deal with the fracture to raise seedlings. In addition, ramet propagation is generally based on the selection of new plants from the mother plant, dug up at the end of autumn, and cultivated, and planted in spring. The grafting of blueberries is the same as that of other fruit trees, with a good choice of drilled wood and scions.

4. Seedling stage management

Now after raising seedlings, we should often water to maintain the moisture of the soil and promote the growth of blueberry roots and new seedlings. But the amount of water should not be too large, if the temperature of the seedling land is high, then we need to wait for the temperature to drop before watering, otherwise it will affect the growth of blueberry seedlings. What we should also pay attention to is that in May and June, we should pay more attention to water management. The management of nutrients is also very important at the seedling stage. In general, we cannot apply fertilizer casually. If we promote the growth of seedlings in the future, it is best to apply an appropriate amount of liquid fertilizer once a week. At the same time, seagulls should be combined with watering during fertilization.
