Lettuce is one of the most common green leafy vegetables in our lives. The young leaves and autumn leaves of lettuce can be eaten raw, thus getting the name lettuce. Now when we eat barbecue or hot pot, lettuce is almost always a necessary vegetable. Therefore, the market for lettuce is getting bigger and bigger, and more and more people are planting it now, but planting lettuce has certain requirements for environmental conditions. Let's take a look at the requirements of lettuce for environmental conditions!

1. Temperature

lettuce is not suitable for growing in high temperature environment, is a cool, frost-resistant vegetables. After sowing, the germination temperature can be controlled at more than 5 degrees, and the most suitable germination temperature is about 18 degrees. Below 15 degrees, the germination speed will be affected to some extent, and there are early and late, above 30 degrees, the seed coat hard, germination rate reduced. After germination, the growth temperature should not be lower than 12 degrees, but the minimum temperature that seedlings can withstand is about 4 degrees. If the temperature is higher than 22 ℃, lettuce is easy to appear early bolting phenomenon, reducing yield and quality. In general, during the whole growth period of lettuce, the temperature can be controlled at 18-22 degrees Celsius.

2. Light

lettuce on the light demand is relatively large, in planting to ensure that there is enough light, if the light is insufficient, lettuce growth will be greatly hindered, thin leaves, leaves are not compact enough and will reduce yield. Therefore, we should pay attention to the planting density when planting, not too dense planting, to prevent the impact of light absorption of lettuce, resulting in only long leaves do not bear balls. However, the light should not be too strong, if the internal leaves are exposed to direct sunlight, it will also reduce the ball formation rate. Therefore, in summer, we should also do a good job of shading, strengthen management, and ensure planting benefits.

3. Moisture

The roots of lettuce are not deeply distributed, and the area of leaves is relatively large, so the evaporation rate of water is relatively fast. lettuce is sensitive to the water content of the soil surface. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure sufficient water throughout the growth period of lettuce, but lettuce has different water requirements at different growth stages. For example, when the seedling stage should not be too much water, to prevent seedling aging, causing prosperous phenomenon. Sufficient moisture should be ensured at the heading stage. Insufficient moisture will reduce the quality of lettuce, resulting in small leaves and bitter taste. After the ball to control moisture, to prevent excessive moisture caused by leaf ball cracking.

4. Nutrition

The nutrient absorption capacity of lettuce is not strong, and the requirements for soil oxygen content are high. Therefore, we should choose sandy soil with high terrain, normal drainage and irrigation, sufficient fertility and strong permeability when selecting planting land. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in soil is very important for lettuce growth. Moreover, due to the short growth cycle of lettuce, high yield, the demand for nutrients is very large, so we must ensure sufficient nutrients in planting. To improve the consumption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, it is necessary to properly supplement micro-fertilizers such as calcium and magnesium. Lack of any kind of nutrition will affect the growth of lettuce and cause various problems.

The above is a brief introduction to the environmental requirements of lettuce. It should be noted that when selecting soil, we cannot choose plots with rainfall and pits. Otherwise, it is easy to accumulate water, leading to rot of lettuce roots, causing downy mildew, root rot and other pests. Serious harm to the growth of lettuce, resulting in yield decline, quality reduction. Today's introduction is here, this article is for reference only, thank you for reading and support.
