Blackberry is also called dew berry, is a perennial vine of Rosaceae, blackberry nutritional value is very high, considered by the United Nations as the third generation of new special fruit. Blackberry has been cultivated for nearly 40 years in China, with the reputation of "black diamond" and "fruit of life". Blackberries are growing more and more widely, so how do we grow them if we want to? The following small series brings you the cultivation technology of blackberry. Let's take a look together!

1. Land selection and preparation

Blackberry on the soil and the surrounding environment requirements are relatively high, first of all we have to choose normal irrigation, deep soft soil and rich in organic matter soil. Control the pH value of the soil at about 6.5 to ensure sufficient sunshine in the planting area. Then carry on the soil preparation work, when the soil preparation, it should be deeply ploughed, the depth should not be less than 25 cm. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, which is mainly fully decomposed farm manure. If the organic matter in the soil is insufficient, increase the amount of base fertilizer, adjust the nutrient ratio, and supplement the nutrients lacking in the soil in the base fertilizer to ensure the healthy growth of blackberries.

2. Timely planting

Blackberry planting time is generally in the early spring of each year, planting to control the planting density dug planting holes. The planting density is controlled according to factors such as soil fertility, for example, the plant spacing of medium fertility is controlled at about 1.5*2 meters to ensure that blackberry plants have enough growth space. If the soil is sticky and low fertility, then we should use the furrow planting method, dig along the row after planting, apply sufficient base fertilizer. Separate the roots from fertilizer at planting time to prevent root burning, and cover the roots with fine soil after planting. After planting, irrigate enough root water to improve the survival rate of seedlings.

3. Fertilizer and water management

Thoroughly till the soil once a year in winter, then apply the appropriate amount of base fertilizer per plant according to the number planted. During blackberry growth period, available nitrogen fertilizer should be used mainly, mainly before flowering and fruit development period. Pay attention to the proportion of nutrients when topdressing, and reasonably adjust the proportion of nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. If the soil nitrogen element is sufficient, it should be mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, otherwise it should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer. In mid-June, if precipitation is low, then water in time to ensure that the fruit absorbs water. But if there is too much water, pay attention to drainage.

4. Field management

Blackberry is a semi-erect variety, so it is still necessary to set up a good stand when planting, and do a good job of introducing vines. About 5 meters in the orchard erected a pillar, pillar height of about two meters, promote the growth of blackberries. Then do a good job of shaping and pruning. When the sprouts grow to about 1.2 meters, they should be picked in time to control the growth height and promote the growth of lateral branches. Then tie it to the post to improve the permeability of the orchard. Prune it at least three times a year to ensure the healthy growth of blackberries and create a good growth environment for them.

The above is a brief introduction to blackberry cultivation techniques. Blackberry fruits are relatively fragile. After picking, sterilization and freezing must be carried out within four hours, otherwise nutrients will be lost in large quantities and lead to deterioration. Therefore, the market price of blackberries is very expensive, but it is not easy to grow them, so I hope everyone must consider carefully before planting.
