Seedling Techniques of Welsh Onion
Green onion is one of the common vegetables in our life, which is planted on a large scale throughout the country, but at present, when many growers are planting, they all buy seedlings to love themselves, and they still do not understand the seedling technology of green onions, so the planting cost is higher and the income is compressed. Next, let's take a look at the seedling techniques of green onions with the editor.
1. Land selection and preparation
The land with flat terrain, ventilation to the sun, close to the water source and rich and loose soil should be selected as the nursery land, continuous cropping should be avoided, and preventive measures for diseases and insect pests should be taken. During soil preparation, 15-20 kg potassium sulfate compound fertilizer can be applied per mu as base fertilizer to provide nutrients for seed germination and seedling growth.
2. Select sprouting
There are many varieties of green onions, so the suitable local varieties should be selected according to the local climate and soil conditions. It is suggested that the varieties with good cold resistance, long green onion, lodging resistance, high and stable yield and good quality should be selected. When preparing to sow seeds after seed selection, in order to ensure the germination rate of seeds, the seeds should be soaked and germinated before sowing. Soak the plant in cold water for 8-10, remove it, wrap it with a wet towel, place it in a warm water environment of 15-20 degrees, open it and rinse with clean water once a day, about a week later, sow seeds when the radicle is exposed.
3. Sowing time and method
Spring onion is relatively strict for sowing time, generally sowing in September-October of the first year, if sowing too early will lead to too many seedlings before winter, the following spring is easy to bolting; sowing too late, seedlings are weak in winter, easy to freeze to death when overwintering. When sowing, in order to make the seedlings grow neatly, it is best to use the method of strip sowing, according to the row spacing of 10-15cm on the seedling bed, open a shallow ditch, and sow seeds after watering, generally using about 350g-400g per mu.
4. Seedling stage management
The sowing branches should be watered frequently before emergence to keep the field moist so as not to harden the soil and make it difficult for the seedlings to be unearthed. After the young buds are unearthed, they should be watered once or twice when the cotyledons are straight and the root system is stable. The amount of water should be controlled when watering, not too much, so as not to cause the seedlings to grow excessively. When watering, it can be combined with ploughing and weeding to promote the growth of seedlings. Before overwintering, freezing water should be irrigated once and topdressing once, which can increase the soil temperature and ensure the seedlings to survive the winter safely. When the temperature rises again in spring, the seedlings will be watered once after they turn green, and then the seedlings will enter the peak growing season, so it is necessary to strengthen fertilizer and water management and field management.
