Celery is a side dish that many people choose when cooking, and it is also an extreme vegetable. Many people like it very much, but many people can't stand the taste, but celery is still very popular. At present, many places in our country have celery cultivation bases, but planting celery has certain requirements for environmental conditions. The following small series brings you what environment is needed for planting celery. Let's take a look together!

1. Soil

Celery prefers to grow in sticky soils rich in humus and with little loss of water and fertilizer. Soil is too sandy easy to cause lack of water and fertilizer, so that celery is prone to hollow rotten core phenomenon, the pH value of the soil should be maintained at about 6.5, acid and alkali will affect the growth of celery. And to ensure that nutrients in the soil comprehensive, lack of any kind of nutrition will lead to celery growth and development stunted. If there is a lack of certain nutrients in the soil, the corresponding fertilizer should be added to the base fertilizer to ensure the normal growth of celery, improve the yield of celery, and enhance the quality.

2. Temperature

Celery is more suitable for growth in low temperature environment, low temperature tolerance ability is strong, high temperature will lead to poor development of celery. And celery in different growth periods, the temperature will also produce some changes, such as germination temperature should be maintained at about 16 degrees, not beyond the range of 15-25 degrees. Otherwise, it will affect germination and reduce germination rate. Ensure the right temperature, about a week or so can germinate. After planting is celery growth peak period, temperature should not exceed 20 degrees, otherwise celery quality is poor, disease and insect pests serious, yield is greatly affected.

3. Light

Celery needs a lot of light, especially during the period from sowing to germination. If the light is insufficient, the germination speed is very slow, and even it will stop germinating. And in the seedling stage, it is also necessary to ensure sufficient light to promote celery growth and ensure celery development. Light duration and intensity are very important for celery growth, so artificial light should be done in winter. However, in the summer natural light time long environment, but also appropriate shading, to prevent celery bolting. Therefore, maintaining proper temperature and light is the key to ensure celery yield.

4. Water

Celery root distribution is shallow, nutrient absorption capacity is not strong, the demand for water is greater. Adequate moisture should be ensured throughout the growth period. After sowing, water in time to ensure that the soil is moist and promote seed germination. When celery is in vegetative growth period, air humidity and soil moisture content should be ensured. Insufficient water will thicken the sclerenchyma in petiole, resulting in increased fiber and aggravated celery hollowing phenomenon. Low yield, poor quality. Therefore, in the planting process, we should do a good job of water management according to the water content of the soil and weather changes.

The above is a brief introduction to celery's environmental requirements, although celery cultivation is relatively simple. However, farmers still need to do a good job in management, especially the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, so as to ensure the vigorous growth of celery, improve the yield of celery and expand the planting benefits.
