Bletilla striata is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine. Its main medicinal part is plant tuber. Bletilla striata has the functions of astringent hemostasis, detumescence and granulation. In our country has a wide range of planting area, but although the planting area of bletilla striata is wide, planting is not so simple, we need to have a certain management technology. Many people fail to plant because of inadequate management. The following small series brings you the key points of field management of Bletilla striata. Let's have a look together!

1. Intertillage and weeding

Bletilla striata plants are very short, if not done a good job of intertillage weeding, then the late stage can hardly distinguish Bletilla striata and weeds. And Bletilla striata nutrient absorption capacity is relatively weak, rob but weeds, so we must do a good job of intertillage weeding. Weeding should be done no less than three times a year, and the first weeding should be done after sowing and emergence. Then in June gradually into summer again, this stage is not only the growth of Bletilla striata exuberant period, weed growth speed is also very fast, a careless will appear grass shortage. When weeding, attention should be paid to avoid damaging the roots of Bletilla striata, which will further affect the growth of Bletilla striata.

2. Water management

Bletilla striata is very hydrophilic and suitable for growing in humid environments, so it is very important for us to manage water during planting. After sowing, water should be timely to promote seed germination and ensure that the soil is in a moist state. Then adjust the watering amount according to the growth of Bletilla striata. Shorten the watering frequency when encountering high temperature and dry weather, and water at least twice a day. Water should not be flooded with water to avoid waterlogging damage of Bletilla striata. In case of rainy days, attention should also be paid to drainage. The accumulated water in the field may cause rot of Bletilla striata roots and cause diseases and insect pests.

3. Timely topdressing

As with Bletilla striata water requirements, Bletilla striata nutrition requirements are also very large, the number of topdressing per year should not be less than two times. Intertillage can improve soil permeability, enhance soil fertilizer absorption and promote Bletilla striata growth. Each topdressing can be carried out together with intertillage weeding. The fertilizer is mainly manure water for the first time, and then an appropriate amount of ammonium sulfate is added. The second time is mainly calcium phosphate, mixed with farm manure, and the third time is decomposed farm manure. Topdressing should be based on a small amount of more chasing, not only to ensure that the nutrition needed for the growth of Bletilla striata, but also to prevent the occurrence of fertilizer damage.

4. Control the light

In the growth process of Bletilla striata, light must be adjusted well, and the demand for light in the early stage of growth is relatively small. At least 70% shading is required in the first week of seedling transplantation, and can be adjusted to about half later. If not shaded in time in summer, the growth rate of Bletilla striata will be very slow, or even stop growing, and the leaves will be burned, resulting in yellowing and defoliation. In addition, the three seasons with lower temperature should have proper direct illumination to promote photosynthesis and increase the accumulation of photosynthetic substances in the plant.

In winter, because the temperature is too low, we should also do a good job of overwintering, properly cover the plastic film, but two days or so will need to open it once, promote ventilation, and then cover it. In addition, we should also do a good job in the prevention and control of pests and diseases to avoid threats to the growth of Bletilla striata.
