Patchouli, also known as Hexiang and mountain fennel, is a perennial herb of the genus patchouli, which usually blossoms between June and September and bears fruit between September and November. Because of its lax requirements on soil, it has been planted all over China, but the most important planting sites are Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangsu, Guangzhou and Zhejiang. Well, today, the editor mainly introduces some points for attention when planting patchouli. Let's take a look at it.

1. Planting time

Patchouli can be sown in two seasons, namely in spring and autumn. Well, we should note that the time of sowing in spring is generally around the end of March to the beginning of April, in which the time of sowing should not be later than mid-April, and the time of sowing in autumn is from September to October. We also need to pay attention to the fact that when sowing in spring, we should open a shallow trench to sow seeds, and the hole is about one centimeter deep, while when sowing in autumn, the hole is about three to four centimeters deep.

2. Growth temperature

Patchouli has the characteristics of being fond of high temperature and light. Generally, the annual average temperature of planting patchouli is about 19 to 26 degrees. The temperature suitable for the growth of patchouli is 18 to 25 degrees. At the time of emergence, the temperature of the planting site should be kept between 20 and 25 degrees. The temperature of late growth should not be lower than 16 degrees and not higher than 35 degrees, otherwise it will affect the growth rate and even cause patchouli to stop growing.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Water and fertilizer management is a very important thing in the planting process. Patchouli fertilization is generally the best effect of whole fertilizer, that is to say, each fertilization should be fully applied, including nitrogen fertilizer, potassium fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer, organic fertilizer, farm fertilizer and so on. Secondly, it is necessary to combine watering and ploughing when fertilizing, which is conducive to the absorption of nutrients, while maintaining the moisture of the soil and maintaining the water supply needed for the normal storage of plants. Finally, we should pay attention to timely drainage when there is more rainfall to prevent flood hazards.

4. Plant density

In general, if you sow seeds in spring, the sowing rate per mu is generally 500 to 800 grams, while when sowing in autumn, the sowing rate per mu is 500 to 600 grams. From the above sowing rate, we can see that the density of sowing in autumn will be higher than that in spring. The spacing between rows sown in spring is usually between 25 and 30 centimeters, while that in autumn is usually between 30 and 35 centimeters.

5. Diseases and insect pests

Diseases and insect pests need to be paid great attention to in the process of planting. The main diseases of patchouli are Fusarium wilt, corner spot, brown spot and spot blight. We can use carbendazim, Bordeaux solution, Metalaxyl manganese zinc and Rhizoctonia. And the biggest harm is red spider, silver leaf moth, leaf borer, ground tiger, mole cricket and so on. In general, mites are used to kill trichlorfon.

These are some of the problems that need to be paid attention to when planting patchouli according to the questions raised by the editor. In fact, generally speaking, as long as you are more careful in the planting process and plant according to the correct planting technology, many problems will not arise. Of course, the editor also hopes to help more friends, if you still need it in the later stage, you can contact the editor directly.
