Chinese chestnut is the fruit of Fagaceae, which has the laudatory name of "king of dried fruit" in China. It has been cultivated in China for more than 2500 years. Chinese chestnut is very rich in nutrients, and the content of sugar and starch in chestnut fruit is very high, which has the effect of tonifying kidney and spleen and strengthening body. There are many Chinese chestnut growers in our country now, but there are some key points of chestnut planting that many people will ignore. Let's introduce the key points of chestnut planting techniques.

1. Ploughing woodland

The ploughing work should be carried out properly in the chestnut orchard, usually according to the age of the chestnut. The orchard of young forest is mainly shallow ploughing, as a result, the orchard should turn deeply and expand holes, increase raw soil, improve soil and promote root growth. The depth of deep ploughing in adult orchards should not be less than 30 cm. Be careful not to hurt the roots during deep ploughing. During deep ploughing, comprehensive clean-up work should be carried out to ensure the integrity of soil and water facilities, prevent soil and water outflow, and remove harmful substances from the soil.

2. Rational fertilization

The fertilizer of Chinese chestnut is mainly organic fertilizer, using chemical fertilizer as little as possible, if possible, do not use chemical fertilizer. Because chemical fertilizer will do harm to the roots of fruit trees, burning roots in serious cases will cause a variety of diseases and insect pests. When fertilizing, apply fertilizer in a ring along the crown of the tree and dig a good fertilizer ditch. The amount of fertilization should be controlled according to the tree age, and the soil should be cultivated immediately after fertilization to improve the soil fertility, which is beneficial to the absorption of root nutrients and enhance the growth of fruit trees.

3. Scraping and whitening

Scraping and whitening is mainly aimed at fruit trees that are more than 10 years old, generally starting after harvest, but also pay attention to the temperature, for areas with lower temperatures, it should be postponed to early spring. The rough skin and warped skin of fruit trees are the main places for diseases and insect pests to survive the winter, so timely scraping can destroy the bacteria overwintering and reduce the incidence of fruit trees. Take the scraped skin out of the orchard and burn it, and then whiten the lower part of the tree trunk to prevent termites or germs from invading.

4. Shaping and pruning

Because chestnut trees are big trees, shaping and pruning is very important for chestnut trees. For trees about 5 years old, the sprouting tillering branches and lower branches at the base of the fruit tree should be cut off. Then remove withered, dead and pest branches, and remove overlapping branches that are too dense and too long. Prevent the fruit trees from being too closed and affect the flowering and fruiting of Chinese chestnut. Old trees should cut off old branches and then cultivate new main branches to promote the formation of new crowns, restore growth and increase yield.

5. Anti-freezing management

After entering winter, the growth of chestnut trees will gradually weaken and begin to shed leaves, especially in some areas where the temperature is below zero in winter, chestnut trees will appear freezing injury. It affects the overwintering work of the chestnut tree, so we should loosen the soil and cover the plastic film on the tree plate before the leaves fall, and then apply enough base fertilizer to cultivate the soil in time. If the soil is too dry, it should be properly watered to improve the cold resistance of chestnut trees and ensure that chestnut trees can survive the winter successfully.

The above is a brief introduction of the key points of chestnut planting technology. Chestnut planting is not as simple as we think. Chestnut growth is relatively slow, and it may take about 4-5 years to enter the full fruit period. Therefore, there are certain skills in planting. I hope you will understand this planting knowledge well before planting. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. Thank you for your reading and support.
