Red-skinned potatoes are native to South America and now have a certain planting area in the south of China. Red-skinned potatoes are pink in color, rich in trace elements and abundant in nutrients. It has a series of effects, such as anti-oxidation, anti-cancer, lowering blood pressure and so on. And it tastes more waxy and noodle than ordinary potatoes. So how to grow red-skinned potatoes? The following editor brings you the planting technology of red-skinned potatoes, let's have a look!

1. Soil selection and land preparation

The first requirement of red-skinned potatoes for the soil is to ensure that they are loose enough, because the tubers of red-skinned potatoes are relatively large and the consumption of oxygen will increase. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the soil is soft enough, the permeability is strong, the soil PH value can be controlled at about 5.2-7.8, and the red-skinned potato has strong salt-alkali resistance. Therefore, when we choose the soil, we should ensure that the terrain is high, soft and deep, and the drainage and irrigation is good. Then carry out soil preparation, the depth of soil preparation shall not be less than 25 cm, do a good job of suppressing and preserving soil moisture, and improve the permeability of the soil and the ability to conserve water and fertilizer.

2. Selected sowing

In soil preparation, we should also apply sufficient base fertilizer, which is mainly based on fully mature farm manure, and the amount of one mu should be controlled at about 2500kg, which should be sprinkled evenly and have adequate nutrition. After soil preparation, the left and right seed stems of red-skinned potatoes with no surface damage, no diseases and insect pests and high yield were selected and put into the room half a month before sowing, so that the seed stems entered the dormant period for germination. Sowing can begin when the local temperature rises above 8 degrees after budding, and the sowing time is around Ching Ming Festival. Pay attention to controlling the sowing density and ridging sowing. Do not sow too closely to prevent plants from blocking each other and affect light absorption.

3. Water and fertilizer management

The water demand of red-skinned potato is large, and it needs to be watered more than 5 times in the whole growth period, but attention should be paid to the amount and method of watering, mainly drip irrigation with small water. Watering in time after the seedlings are unearthed to promote the growth of seedlings, and then in the bud stage, flowering stage and other stages of large water demand to do a good job of watering, to avoid water shortage affecting the growth of red potatoes. And also need to topdressing in time, red-skinned potatoes have a great demand for potassium, so it is necessary to increase the proportion of potassium in fertilizer, control the amount of nitrogen, and prevent plants from overgrowing. The main topdressing period is in bud stage, tuber formation stage and expansion stage, these three periods are the greatest nutritional demand of red-skinned potato.

4. Field management

Enough loose and permeable soil is very helpful for the growth of red-skinned potatoes and the formation and expansion of tubers, so intertillage weeding is very important. We have to carry out the first weeding after finishing the seedlings, because at this time the seedlings are not large, weeds are easy to be found, and the goal can be achieved with a shallow hoe. Then, when the seedlings grow to about 24 cm, the weeding work is carried out again to promote the growth of red-skinned potatoes and accelerate the development of tubers. The buds of red-skinned potatoes are useless, and the aboveground plants will compete with tubers for nutrition during the growing period, so we need to remove the buds in time to promote tuber growth and reduce nutrition consumption.

We should pay attention to the time when the buds are removed, and start picking flowers when about 28% of the flowers are in full bloom. About twice a week, it can effectively increase the yield of red-skinned potatoes. The output of red-skinned potatoes is closely related to our management, so we must master the management technology before planting to improve our planting efficiency.
