EMU is a bird of the emu family, native to Australia, but now it also has a certain farming area. Emu is very suitable for farmers to raise, because emu is very adaptable, and emu is basically covered with treasures all over the body, with delicious meat, low content of high-calorie substances such as fat, good breathable skin and flexible beauty. Eggs can also be carved into handicrafts for collection. So how can emus be bred? The following editor has brought the breeding technology of emu, let's have a look!

1. Site construction

EMU is very athletic. Like ostriches, emu is a kind of bird that likes sports. Therefore, in the construction of farms to ensure that there is sufficient space for emu movement, and there must be good drainage and irrigation measures to ensure that there will not be stagnant water. Plant some larger trees and flowers around the farm to properly shade and improve air quality. And to ensure the permeability of culture, emus are relatively large, so the culture density should not be too dense. Each emu should have enough growth space to avoid overcrowding and affect each other's growth.

2. Feeding and management

The feed demand of emus will change with the change of growth stage. for example, in young emus from July to October, the feed is mainly green feed such as corn. It should be fed regularly and at least three times a day. The green feed should be cut into small pieces to prevent emu indigestion. Control drinking water, do not feed deteriorated and contaminated drinking water, and do not feed water sources that have been directly exposed to the sun. Otherwise, emus are prone to indigestion and some gastrointestinal diseases. With high temperatures and drought in summer, the water demand of emus will greatly increase, so it is necessary to ensure adequate and clean drinking water at this time.

3. Incubation management

The mating of emus is more important. first of all, a male emu can mate with multiple females. During the breeding period, there will be fights for courtship, so we should pay attention to it. It is best to divide the columns in time. It takes about 2 years for a farmed emu to reach sexual maturity. The female emu hatches immediately after laying eggs, and the incubation period is about 50 days. During the incubation period, the temperature should be controlled at 35 degrees and the humidity should be controlled at about 45% to ensure ventilation and improve air quality in the breeding house. An emu that has just broken its shell needs to be artificially insulated and can be de-heated after about two months.

4. Epidemic prevention and sterilization

Although the emu has strong disease resistance, it still can not relax the work of epidemic prevention and sterilization. First of all, before we feed the green feed and chop it up, we should disinfect it for 8-10 minutes, and then wash the disinfectant with clean water. Every time before feeding, the room and raising equipment should be cleaned, and then the emu house should be thoroughly disinfected regularly, about once every half a month. Try to avoid visitors from outside, and breeders should be disinfected before entering the house. Isolate all germ carriers, cut off the source of infection, and control the incidence of the disease.

The above is a brief introduction to emu farming technology. The economic value of emu is very high, not only those mentioned above. For example, there is a fat band in the body of an emu, which is high in oil. And emu oil is very permeable and is now widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. Thank you for your reading and support.
