Under the banner of advocating economic development, rural areas of all countries are faced with severe challenges and strive to find a way out in the predicament. PTV launched a series of documentaries called "Vision in the Countryside" to introduce international rural cases from the perspective of foresight and sustainable management, hoping to arouse the imagination of Taiwan society about rural areas. Upstream and downstream, in cooperation with PTV, have published wonderful cases in each episode one after another.

This article focuses on the township of Weyarn Huaiyang in Germany, a town of 3, 000 people only 20 kilometers away from Munich. It insists on maintaining the rural style, but through diversified economic development and unique land rental system, it attracts young people to settle here and inject vitality into the countryside.

Liu Song: when Taiwan is aware of the problem, it can discuss going its own way.

Liu Song, director of "Vision in the Countryside", said that Germany has also experienced crazy economic development and disordered values, and development has emerged in the model seen after generations of introspection. In particular, Huaiyang, a small town of 3,000 people, manages the countryside in a pragmatic and creative way, resisting the temptation of economic development.

Liu Song reiterated that this series of films are not a panacea, but these stories can open up Taiwan's imagination of rural areas, which some people will think is great and broaden their horizons, while others will be completely disappointed that Taiwan's rural areas cannot become a model at all. In any case, when Taiwan is aware of rural issues, it will be able to discuss how Taiwan's rural areas should find their own way.

The documentary series "Vision in the Countryside" will be broadcast on the main channel of Public Television at 10 p.m. every Tuesday from December 4 this year.
